Can I get pregnant?

Hello doctor, my last menstrual period started on March 2, and my cycle is usually around 28-30 days, lasting 6-7 days each time.
I had unprotected intercourse with my partner on March 19.
Recently, I've been experiencing intermittent abdominal pain, which I initially thought was gastrointestinal discomfort, but I've only had to urinate.
One night, the pain was so severe that it woke me up and kept me from sleeping, and my period still hasn't arrived.

Hello, if you are wondering whether you are pregnant, it's best to wait for the right opportunity.
It's advisable to use contraceptive measures at all times, as you cannot rely on the safe period.
If your period is late by more than a week, it is recommended to see a gynecologist.
Wishing you good health.

It sounds like you're experiencing a lot of anxiety and uncertainty regarding the possibility of pregnancy, especially after having unprotected intercourse. Let's break down your situation and address your concerns.

Based on the information you've provided, your last menstrual period started on March 2, and you had unprotected intercourse on March 19. Given that your menstrual cycle typically ranges from 28 to 30 days, you would be approaching the time when your next period is expected. If your cycle is regular, ovulation likely occurred around March 16 to March 18, which means there is a possibility of conception if you had intercourse during that time.

The symptoms you are experiencing, such as abdominal pain, could be related to several factors. It's important to note that early pregnancy can sometimes cause mild cramping or discomfort as the body begins to change. However, abdominal pain can also be attributed to other causes, such as gastrointestinal issues, stress, or even anxiety about the possibility of being pregnant.

If your period does not arrive within a week or so of when you expect it, taking a home pregnancy test could provide you with more clarity. These tests are generally reliable and can detect pregnancy hormones in your urine. If the test is positive, it would be advisable to schedule an appointment with your healthcare provider for further evaluation and to discuss your options.

It's also worth mentioning that anxiety about potential pregnancy is common, especially if you are unsure about your reproductive health. The worry can sometimes lead to physical symptoms, such as abdominal pain or changes in sleep patterns, as you've described. If you find that your anxiety is overwhelming or affecting your daily life, it may be beneficial to speak with a mental health professional. They can help you develop coping strategies and provide support as you navigate these feelings.

In summary, while there is a possibility of pregnancy given the timing of your intercourse, the best course of action is to wait for your expected period and consider taking a pregnancy test. If you continue to experience discomfort or if your anxiety worsens, don't hesitate to reach out to a healthcare provider for guidance. Remember, you're not alone in this, and there are resources available to help you through your concerns.
