Foreskin issues
I have small raised bumps on the back of my foreskin.
I previously showed them to a doctor, who said they might be sebaceous glands.
However, I occasionally feel itchy, and sometimes I notice larger, redder bumps.
When I squeeze them, a white substance comes out, similar to what you get when you pop a pimple.
What could this be? Why do I sometimes feel itchy, especially when sitting still? I don't feel it when walking or showering.
I've applied clindamycin, but I still experience some itching.
Do I need treatment, or is it sufficient to maintain dryness and cleanliness? Is it okay to masturbate?

Hello: The sebaceous glands may exhibit this phenomenon.
If there are no changes, you can maintain dryness and cleanliness.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
Understanding foreskin issues, particularly those involving itching, bumps, and other symptoms, can be quite concerning. Based on your description, it seems you are experiencing a combination of sebaceous gland activity and possibly some irritation or inflammation in the area.
The small bumps you mentioned, which your doctor identified as likely being sebaceous glands, are quite common. These glands produce sebum, an oily substance that helps keep the skin moisturized. In some cases, these glands can become more prominent or inflamed, leading to the appearance of bumps. The white substance you observe when you squeeze these bumps could be sebum mixed with dead skin cells, which is similar to what happens when you pop a pimple.
The itching you experience, particularly when sitting still, could be due to several factors. It may be related to moisture accumulation in the area, friction from clothing, or even a mild allergic reaction to soaps or laundry detergents. It's also possible that the itching is a result of irritation from the skin rubbing against itself or against clothing.
Here are some recommendations for managing your symptoms:
1. Maintain Hygiene: Keeping the area clean and dry is crucial. Gently wash the area with mild soap and water, and ensure it is thoroughly dried afterward. Avoid using harsh soaps or products that may irritate the skin.
2. Avoid Irritants: If you suspect that certain soaps, lotions, or laundry detergents are causing irritation, consider switching to hypoallergenic products.
3. Moisturize: If the skin appears dry, applying a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer may help alleviate some of the itching. However, avoid applying heavy creams directly to the bumps, as this may exacerbate the issue.
4. Avoid Squeezing: While it may be tempting to squeeze the bumps, doing so can lead to irritation, inflammation, or even infection. It's best to leave them alone.
5. Monitor Symptoms: Keep an eye on the bumps and any changes in color, size, or sensation. If they become painful, increasingly red, or if you notice any discharge that is not typical, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional.
6. Consult a Specialist: If the itching persists despite good hygiene practices or if you have concerns about the bumps, consider seeing a dermatologist or a urologist. They can provide a more thorough examination and may suggest treatments such as topical corticosteroids or other medications if necessary.
Regarding your question about masturbation, it is generally safe to engage in this activity as long as it does not cause pain or discomfort. However, if you notice that it exacerbates your symptoms, it may be worth taking a break until you have a better understanding of your condition.
In summary, while the symptoms you describe may be benign, it is essential to monitor them closely and maintain good hygiene. If symptoms persist or worsen, seeking medical advice is the best course of action.
