There is a hole in the foreskin?
Doctor, while I was showering today, I pulled my foreskin back completely and noticed some white substance near the frenulum, at the junction of the glans and the foreskin.
I kept pulling it, and it felt similar to pulling off mature smegma.
I pulled out 2 or 3 strips, and it eventually left a hole.
What is this? Is this normal?

Hello: It's not normal, but it can sometimes occur.
It may be related to issues with the sebaceous glands.
It's advisable to keep the area clean and dry to prevent infection.
If there is any redness, seek medical attention.

More Info
When it comes to the presence of holes or white substances in the foreskin area, particularly around the frenulum (the band of tissue connecting the foreskin to the glans), there are several factors to consider. First and foremost, it’s important to understand that the anatomy of the male genitalia can vary significantly from person to person, and some variations are completely normal.
The white substance you observed could be smegma, which is a natural buildup of dead skin cells, oils, and other bodily secretions that can accumulate under the foreskin. Smegma is typically harmless and can be easily cleaned with regular hygiene practices. However, if you notice an unusual amount of smegma, or if it is accompanied by other symptoms such as redness, swelling, pain, or an unpleasant odor, it may indicate an underlying issue that requires medical attention.
The hole you mentioned could be a natural anatomical feature or a result of the removal of smegma. In some cases, the frenulum can appear to have small openings or indentations, which are normal. However, if the hole seems to be larger than what you would consider normal, or if it is causing discomfort, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional for a thorough examination.
There are a few potential causes for changes in the foreskin area, including:
1. Frenulum Breve: This is a condition where the frenulum is shorter than normal, which can cause discomfort during erections or sexual activity. It may also lead to tearing or the formation of small openings.
2. Balanitis: This is an inflammation of the glans (the head of the penis) that can occur due to poor hygiene, infections, or skin conditions. Symptoms may include redness, swelling, and discharge.
3. Pearly Penile Papules: These are small, harmless bumps that can appear around the corona of the glans. They are a normal anatomical variant and do not require treatment.
4. Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): Certain STIs can cause changes in the genital area, including lesions or unusual discharge. If you are sexually active, it is important to consider this possibility.
5. Lichen Sclerosus: This is a chronic skin condition that can affect the genital area, leading to white patches, scarring, and changes in the skin texture.
In summary, while the presence of a hole or white substance in the foreskin area can be normal, it is essential to monitor for any additional symptoms that may indicate a problem. If you experience pain, discomfort, or any other concerning symptoms, it is advisable to seek medical advice. A healthcare professional can provide a proper diagnosis and recommend appropriate treatment if necessary. Regular hygiene practices, including gentle cleaning of the area, can help prevent the buildup of smegma and maintain overall genital health.
