Pseudomenstruation? Is there a possibility of pregnancy?

How can one distinguish between false menstruation and true menstruation? I had intercourse on May 13, with a total of five times, using a condom throughout.
After my boyfriend withdrew, he wrapped his finger in tissue, and I’m unsure if it came into contact with anything.
Afterward, his finger was inserted into my vagina.
What is the likelihood of pregnancy in this scenario? I took a pregnancy test on May 26, and both tests showed one line.
My last period started on April 28, and this period came on May 28, ending on June 3.
Although it was six days late, the flow decreased slightly on the second day and then returned to normal.
The duration was two to three days longer than usual, and the color changed to brown during the last two to three days.
I also visited a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner on June 3 for pulse diagnosis to regulate my menstrual cycle and gastrointestinal health.
Is it possible to detect a pulse at this time? After my period ended, I took another pregnancy test on June 7.
Initially, I didn’t see a second line, but after some time, a faint second line appeared that was hard to see.
Why did this happen? After my period, I also noticed an increase in vaginal discharge.

Understanding pseudomenstruation and distinguishing it from a regular menstrual cycle can be quite complex, especially when considering the nuances of pregnancy and hormonal changes. Pseudomenstruation refers to bleeding that may resemble a menstrual period but is not due to the normal menstrual cycle. This can occur in early pregnancy due to hormonal fluctuations, particularly the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and changes in estrogen and progesterone levels.

In your case, you mentioned having unprotected intercourse with your boyfriend, which raises concerns about the possibility of pregnancy. While you used a condom, the risk of pregnancy can still exist if there was any failure in the contraceptive method, such as breakage or slippage. Additionally, if there was any contact with pre-ejaculatory fluid during the encounter, this could also contribute to the risk of pregnancy.

You reported a late period, which can be a sign of pregnancy, but you also experienced bleeding that was different from your usual menstrual cycle. The fact that your bleeding started later than expected and had a different color and flow could suggest several possibilities. It could be a sign of pseudomenstruation, which sometimes occurs in early pregnancy, or it could simply be a variation in your menstrual cycle. The presence of brownish discharge at the end of your period is often normal and can indicate older blood being expelled from the uterus.

Regarding your concern about the pregnancy test results, it is important to note that home pregnancy tests can sometimes yield faint lines, especially if taken early or if the hCG levels are still low. If you see a second line, even if faint, it may indicate a positive result, but it is advisable to confirm with a healthcare provider for a more accurate assessment.

As for your menstrual cycle, the changes you described, such as the duration and color of your bleeding, can be influenced by various factors, including stress, hormonal imbalances, and even dietary changes. The fact that you consulted a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner to help regulate your menstrual cycle and digestive health is a proactive approach, as holistic methods can sometimes aid in restoring balance.

In summary, distinguishing between pseudomenstruation and a regular menstrual period involves paying attention to the timing, flow, and characteristics of the bleeding. If you suspect pregnancy or if your menstrual cycle continues to be irregular, it is crucial to consult with a healthcare professional. They can provide a thorough evaluation, including blood tests and possibly an ultrasound, to determine if you are pregnant and to address any concerns regarding your menstrual health. Additionally, if you experience any unusual symptoms, such as severe pain or heavy bleeding, seeking medical attention promptly is advisable.
