Glans issues - Glans skin abrasion?

Today, when I was taking a shower and took off my pants, I noticed that the left side of my glans seemed to have stuck to my underwear.
However, I didn't pay attention and quickly removed my pants, only to find that the skin had broken and was slightly bleeding (the size of the break is about the same as a small pimple that has been popped).
Fortunately, the bleeding stopped in less than a minute.
Upon closer inspection, there is a bit of redness and swelling.
Could this be due to trauma, or is there another reason? (There is no itching, but I experienced slight stinging after a few minutes.) Can I apply a regular topical ointment for minor wounds? Additionally, I had masturbated about one or two hours before showering; could it be that residual semen was not cleaned properly and caused the skin of the glans to stick to my underwear?

Hello: If there is a skin break on the glans, it is essential to choose a gentle ointment and to keep the area clean and dry.
Otherwise, repeated exposure to moisture can hinder healing and prolong recovery time.
If there have been previous instances of genital skin breaks, it is advisable to seek medical evaluation.
Wishing you good health.

Injuries to the glans, or the sensitive tip of the penis, can occur due to various reasons, including friction, trauma, or even infections. In your case, it seems that the injury was caused by a sudden movement while undressing, which resulted in a small tear on the left side of the glans. This type of injury is not uncommon and can happen due to the delicate nature of the skin in that area.

Causes of Glans Injury
1. Friction: Activities such as vigorous sexual activity or even rough handling during washing can lead to friction injuries.

2. Trauma: Sudden movements, such as pulling off clothing quickly, can cause trauma to the sensitive skin.

3. Infections: Conditions like balanitis (inflammation of the glans) can also lead to sensitivity and increased risk of injury.

4. Hygiene Issues: As you mentioned, if there was residual semen or other substances that caused the skin to stick to your underwear, this could have contributed to the injury.

Symptoms
The symptoms you described—minor bleeding, slight redness, and mild swelling—are typical for a superficial skin injury. The absence of itching and the presence of a mild stinging sensation are also common following such injuries. The fact that the bleeding stopped quickly is a good sign, indicating that the injury is likely superficial and not severe.

Treatment Options
1. Cleaning the Area: Gently clean the area with mild soap and water to prevent infection. Avoid using harsh soaps or scrubbing the area too vigorously.

2. Topical Treatment: Applying a mild antiseptic ointment or a general-purpose wound ointment can help promote healing and prevent infection. Avoid using products that contain alcohol or strong fragrances, as these can irritate the sensitive skin.

3. Avoid Irritation: Wear loose-fitting underwear to avoid further irritation to the area. Avoid activities that may cause friction or pressure on the glans until it has healed.

4. Monitoring: Keep an eye on the injury for signs of infection, such as increased redness, swelling, warmth, or discharge. If any of these symptoms develop, or if the pain worsens, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional.

When to Seek Medical Attention
While most minor injuries to the glans can be treated at home, you should seek medical attention if:
- The bleeding does not stop after a few minutes.

- You notice increasing pain or swelling.

- There are signs of infection, such as pus, fever, or worsening redness.

- You experience any unusual symptoms, such as difficulty urinating or persistent pain.

Conclusion
In summary, the injury you sustained appears to be minor and likely due to friction or trauma from undressing. With proper care, it should heal without complications. Using a topical ointment and keeping the area clean will aid in recovery. If you have concerns about hygiene or if the injury does not improve, consulting a healthcare provider is advisable. Remember, maintaining good hygiene and being gentle with sensitive areas can help prevent similar injuries in the future.
