Post-circumcision complications?

I'm sorry to bother you, but I have some questions regarding my circumcision.
I underwent the procedure on March 1st at a major hospital, and it has been five months since then.
I have returned for follow-up visits multiple times, but the doctors only say everything is normal without providing answers to my concerns, which has left me feeling anxious.
I would like to ask you some questions:
1.
After the surgery, my glans seems to be swollen, and any friction causes discomfort.
Is this a normal condition? What can I do to improve it?

2.
The scar from the excision has formed hard little lumps after scabbing, and touching them causes some pain and discomfort.
Is this a normal phenomenon? Will it go away, or is there a way to treat it?
3.
About 1-2 months after the surgery, I experienced tightness and discomfort in the frenulum during masturbation.
It has improved somewhat recently.
Will this condition continue to get better over time?
4.
Since I still feel some discomfort and slight pain when touched, I am hesitant to clean too vigorously and only use cotton swabs for hygiene.
Is there a proper way to clean? I apply petroleum jelly on the glans and shaft once a week for maintenance and protection; is this acceptable?
5.
During masturbation, due to pain, I can only grip the base of the penis.
Is there a way to improve this? Will I experience pain during sexual intercourse in the future?
6.
I also feel discomfort when wearing slightly tighter pants for a few minutes or during prolonged walking or exercise.
Is this something that will improve with time?
I know I have a lot of questions, but I am genuinely worried, so I appreciate your guidance.
Thank you very much!

Hello: 1) Postoperative edema is common and typically resolves within 1-2 months.
It is recommended to avoid prolonged sitting; take breaks to move around to improve circulation.
2) Hard lumps after surgery are scar tissue, which generally takes longer to improve than edema.
The healing process depends on individual constitution and postoperative care; some individuals may take several months for the tissue to soften.
3) Pain is an issue, so it is essential to take good care of the wound; otherwise, persistent pain can affect sexual activity.
4) Clean with water, dry thoroughly, and avoid tight underwear (I personally do not recommend petroleum jelly).
5) If the wound does not show redness or swelling, it will gradually heal.
The first week after surgery is crucial for recovery; if any issues arise, it will take time to recover.
Wishing you good health.

Post-circumcision concerns are quite common, and it's understandable to have questions and worries after such a procedure. Let's address your concerns one by one, providing insights based on medical knowledge and common practices.

1. Swelling After Circumcision: It's not unusual for some swelling to persist for several months after circumcision. This can be due to the healing process, which varies from person to person. If the swelling is significant or causing discomfort, you might consider applying a cold compress to the area to reduce inflammation. Additionally, avoiding tight clothing and ensuring proper hygiene can help. If the swelling does not subside or worsens, it would be wise to consult your healthcare provider.

2. Hard Bumps at the Surgical Site: The hard lumps you feel at the incision site could be scar tissue, which is a normal part of the healing process. Over time, these lumps may soften and become less noticeable. However, if they are painful or if you notice any changes in color or size, it’s important to seek medical advice. Your doctor may recommend treatments such as topical steroids or other interventions if necessary.

3. Tightness During Masturbation: It’s common to experience some tightness or discomfort during sexual activities after circumcision, especially in the early stages of healing. As time passes, many men find that sensitivity decreases and comfort increases. Engaging in gentle activities and allowing your body to adjust can help. If discomfort persists, consider discussing this with your doctor, as they may suggest specific techniques or treatments.

4. Cleaning and Care: Proper hygiene is crucial post-circumcision. It’s generally recommended to gently clean the area with warm water and mild soap. Using cotton swabs can be effective, but be careful not to irritate the area. Applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly can help keep the area moisturized, but ensure that it does not lead to any irritation. If you experience discomfort while cleaning, it’s best to be gentle and consult your doctor for personalized advice.

5. Pain During Masturbation: If you are experiencing pain during masturbation, it could be due to sensitivity or the healing process. It’s advisable to use lubrication to reduce friction, which may help alleviate discomfort. If the pain continues, it’s important to discuss this with your healthcare provider to rule out any underlying issues.

6. Discomfort with Tight Clothing: Feeling discomfort when wearing tight clothing or during physical activity is not uncommon after circumcision. This discomfort often improves with time as the area heals and sensitivity decreases. Wearing loose-fitting underwear and clothing can help minimize discomfort. If the issue persists, it may be beneficial to consult with your doctor for further evaluation.

In summary, while some discomfort and concerns are normal after circumcision, it’s essential to monitor your symptoms. If you notice any significant changes, persistent pain, or if your concerns are affecting your quality of life, do not hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider. They can provide tailored advice and reassurance based on your specific situation. Remember, healing takes time, and open communication with your doctor is key to addressing any worries you may have.
