Penile issues
If the penis was potentially impacted while not erect, is there a possibility of damage? I was riding on a motorcycle and due to an emergency brake (the speed was about 10 kilometers per hour, and we had just started), I was thrown forward in the back seat, and my penis may have hit the rider in front (I'm not entirely sure).
At the moment, I didn't feel anything, but after returning home, I started to feel intermittent sharp pain in a small area of my penis.
Upon inspection, there is no swelling or bruising.
Should I seek medical attention, or is it sufficient to just observe the situation? Thank you.

More Info
When assessing potential injury to the penis after an impact, it is essential to consider several factors, including the nature of the impact, the symptoms experienced, and any visible signs of injury. In your case, you mentioned that you experienced a sudden forward motion due to an emergency stop while riding as a passenger on a motorcycle, which may have caused your penis to collide with the front rider or another object.
Firstly, it is important to understand that the penis is a sensitive organ, and any impact can potentially lead to injury, even if it is not immediately apparent. The fact that you did not feel any pain at the moment of impact is not uncommon, as some injuries may not manifest symptoms right away. However, the subsequent development of intermittent sharp pain is a signal that should not be ignored.
In terms of visible signs, you noted that there was no swelling or bruising, which is a positive indicator. However, the absence of these signs does not rule out the possibility of internal injury. Injuries to the penis can range from minor contusions to more severe conditions such as penile fractures or damage to the erectile tissues.
Here are some key points to consider when deciding whether to seek medical attention:
1. Pain Severity and Duration: If the pain persists, worsens, or becomes more frequent, it is advisable to seek medical attention. Persistent pain can indicate an underlying issue that may require treatment.
2. Changes in Appearance: Monitor for any changes in the appearance of the penis, such as swelling, bruising, or deformity. If any of these symptoms develop, it is important to consult a healthcare professional.
3. Urinary Symptoms: Pay attention to any changes in urination, such as pain during urination, blood in the urine, or difficulty urinating. These symptoms can indicate a more serious injury that requires immediate medical evaluation.
4. Erections: If you experience painful erections or any changes in erectile function, it is crucial to seek medical advice. These symptoms can suggest damage to the erectile tissues or blood vessels.
5. Emotional Well-being: If you find yourself feeling anxious or worried about the injury, it may be beneficial to speak with a healthcare provider for reassurance and guidance.
In summary, while it is possible that the injury is minor, it is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to potential injuries to sensitive areas of the body. If you continue to experience pain or if any concerning symptoms arise, I recommend seeking medical attention for a thorough evaluation. A healthcare professional can perform a physical examination and may recommend imaging studies if necessary to rule out any significant injuries.
In the meantime, it may be helpful to rest, avoid any activities that could exacerbate the pain, and apply ice to the area to reduce any potential swelling. Keeping track of your symptoms and their progression will also provide valuable information should you decide to consult a doctor. Remember, your health and peace of mind are paramount, so do not hesitate to seek help if you feel it is needed.
