Swelling of the anus for several days after ejaculation?
I have not experienced similar sensations in the past, but about a year ago, I began to feel swelling in the anal area after ejaculation.
I consulted a urologist, who found no abnormalities and suggested that if there were issues, I should see a colorectal surgeon.
In February, the swelling sensation turned into pain, prompting me to visit a proctologist, who discovered a pilonidal cyst.
I underwent surgery in April, and two months later, I occasionally experienced itching around the anus, along with swelling.
The proctologist examined me and concluded that the wound was healing normally and that it should not be related to the pilonidal cyst, attributing it to a skin issue around the anal area.
A dermatologist prescribed a topical ointment, which improved the itching; however, the dermatologist believed that the internal swelling near the anus was not a skin problem.
In June, I returned to the urologist for further evaluation, including a urinalysis and a prostate ultrasound, both of which showed no abnormalities.
Recently, over the past month, I have noticed a significant burning sensation in the anal area during ejaculation, followed by swelling that lasts for 2-3 days.
Since this sensation is only prominent during ejaculation, I am consulting with a urologist to see if there are any similar cases, potential issues, and possible solutions.
Thank you.

Hello: Your symptoms may be caused by a combination of several issues.
It is advisable to visit a medical center for an examination.
I personally suspect that there may be a problem with prostatitis in the urology department.
However, it could be chronic.
To maintain a normal lifestyle, reduce alcohol and spicy foods, and walk for half an hour every day.
Avoid excessive DIY activities.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
Post-ejaculation anal swelling can be a perplexing and uncomfortable condition, and it’s understandable that you are seeking clarity on the causes and potential solutions. Based on your description, it seems you have undergone a thorough evaluation by multiple specialists, including urologists and proctologists, which is a good approach to rule out serious underlying conditions.
Possible Causes
1. Inflammation or Irritation: After ejaculation, the pelvic region, including the anal area, can experience increased blood flow and muscle tension, which may lead to temporary swelling or discomfort. This is often exacerbated by any underlying inflammation or irritation in the anal area.
2. Hemorrhoids or Anal Fissures: Although you mentioned that your doctors did not find any abnormalities, conditions like hemorrhoids or anal fissures can cause swelling and discomfort, especially after activities that increase pressure in the pelvic area, such as ejaculation.
3. Skin Conditions: As noted by your dermatologist, skin issues around the anal area can lead to itching and swelling. Conditions such as dermatitis, fungal infections, or even sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can cause similar symptoms.
4. Pelvic Floor Dysfunction: The pelvic floor muscles play a crucial role in sexual function and can become tense or dysfunctional, leading to discomfort during or after ejaculation. This can sometimes manifest as anal swelling or a feeling of pressure.
5. Psychosomatic Factors: Anxiety or stress related to sexual performance or discomfort can sometimes exacerbate physical symptoms. This is worth considering, especially if the symptoms have persisted despite medical evaluations.
Solutions and Recommendations
1. Continued Monitoring: Since you have already seen multiple specialists, it’s essential to continue monitoring your symptoms. Keep a detailed diary of when the swelling occurs, its duration, and any associated symptoms. This information can be invaluable for your healthcare providers.
2. Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy: If pelvic floor dysfunction is suspected, working with a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic health can be beneficial. They can provide exercises and techniques to help relax and strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.
3. Topical Treatments: If skin irritation is a contributing factor, continue using any prescribed topical treatments. Over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream may also help reduce inflammation and itching, but consult your dermatologist before starting any new treatment.
4. Dietary and Lifestyle Modifications: Ensure you are maintaining a healthy diet rich in fiber to prevent constipation, which can exacerbate anal discomfort. Staying hydrated and avoiding excessive straining during bowel movements can also help.
5. Follow-Up with Specialists: Given the complexity of your symptoms, consider scheduling follow-up appointments with both your urologist and proctologist. They may recommend further diagnostic tests, such as imaging studies or endoscopy, to rule out any hidden issues.
6. Psychological Support: If anxiety or stress is a factor, consider speaking with a mental health professional. They can provide strategies to manage anxiety related to sexual health and comfort.
Conclusion
While post-ejaculation anal swelling can be distressing, it is often manageable with the right approach. Since you have already seen multiple specialists, continuing to communicate openly with them about your symptoms and any changes you notice is crucial. It’s important to remain proactive in your health care and seek further evaluations if your symptoms persist or worsen. Remember, you are not alone in this experience, and many individuals face similar challenges.
