Enlargement of the urethral opening?

Hello doctor, recently my girlfriend has been performing oral sex and manual stimulation on me.
Due to the intensity, I have noticed that my urethral opening seems to be torn and stretched.
Previously, my urethral opening was about 0.3 cm, but now it has increased to around 0.6 to 0.7 cm, stretching from the urethral opening to near the frenulum.
Before it stretched significantly, I consulted a urologist who said it was normal, but now it feels like it is getting wider.
Is this still considered normal? Additionally, is there a surgical option to reduce its size? Since it has enlarged, I find myself needing to urinate more frequently.
Thank you.

Dr. Du Mingyi reply Urology

The urge to urinate and the desire to urinate are two different matters; it is usually caused by psychological factors.
The current condition does not affect function, and there is no surgical intervention available.

Understanding urethral enlargement can be quite concerning, especially when it involves changes in the anatomy of such a sensitive area. Based on your description, it seems that you have experienced a significant increase in the size of your urethral opening, which has raised questions about its normalcy and potential implications for your health.

Firstly, it’s important to understand that the urethra is a tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body, and its opening can vary in size among individuals. A normal urethral opening is typically around 0.3 cm, as you mentioned. An increase to 0.6-0.7 cm, while it may seem alarming, could be a result of various factors, including trauma or irritation from vigorous sexual activity, as you noted.

The tearing or stretching of the urethral opening can occur due to excessive force during sexual activities, especially if there is a lack of lubrication or if the activities are particularly vigorous. This can lead to temporary changes in the size of the urethral opening. However, if the enlargement persists or is accompanied by other symptoms such as pain, bleeding, or difficulty urinating, it is crucial to seek medical attention.

In terms of whether this condition is normal, it is essential to consult a urologist who can provide a thorough examination and determine if the changes you are experiencing are within the normal range or if they indicate an underlying issue. The urologist may perform a physical examination and possibly imaging studies to assess the urethra and surrounding structures.

Regarding your concern about the increased frequency of urination, this could be related to the changes in the urethra, but it may also be influenced by other factors such as anxiety, hydration levels, or even bladder sensitivity. It’s important to discuss these symptoms with your healthcare provider, as they can help identify the underlying cause and recommend appropriate treatment.

If you are considering surgical options to reduce the size of the urethral opening, this is a complex decision that should be made in consultation with a qualified urologist. Surgical interventions can carry risks and may not always yield the desired results. The urologist will be able to discuss the potential benefits and risks of any surgical procedures, as well as alternative treatments that may be available.

In the meantime, it may be helpful to practice gentle sexual activities and ensure adequate lubrication to minimize any further irritation or trauma to the area. Additionally, monitoring your symptoms and keeping a record of any changes can provide valuable information for your healthcare provider.

In summary, while an increase in the size of the urethral opening can be concerning, it is essential to consult with a urologist for a proper evaluation. They can help determine if the changes are normal or if further intervention is needed. Remember, open communication with your healthcare provider is key to addressing your concerns and ensuring your overall health and well-being.
