Menstruation is delayed by almost two weeks, and both the ultrasound and pregnancy test show no signs of pregnancy?
Hello Doctor: My period is nearly two weeks late, so I would like to ask about my situation.
My last menstrual period started on September 11 and ended after 2-3 days.
I had sexual intercourse shortly after that.
My period was originally expected around October 10 or 11, but it still hasn't arrived.
On October 22, I went to the clinic for a transvaginal ultrasound, and the doctor said there were no signs of pregnancy.
If my period still hasn't come after a week, I should return to the clinic for a urine test.
On October 23, I was still very worried, so I took a home pregnancy test, which only showed one line.
Besides occasional cramping on both sides of my abdomen, I have not experienced any other pregnancy symptoms.
Doctor, is there still a possibility that I could be pregnant?

More Info
It sounds like you're experiencing a concerning situation with your delayed period and the uncertainty surrounding potential pregnancy. Based on the details you've provided, let's break down the situation and address your concerns.
First, it's important to note that a delayed period can occur for various reasons, and pregnancy is just one of them. Given that your last menstrual period started on September 11 and you had unprotected intercourse shortly after, it's understandable to be anxious about the possibility of pregnancy. However, the fact that you have undergone an ultrasound on October 22, and the doctor indicated there were no signs of pregnancy, is a significant factor in alleviating your concerns.
When it comes to home pregnancy tests, they are generally quite reliable when used correctly. If you tested on October 23 and only saw one line, this typically indicates a negative result, meaning that there is no detectable level of the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in your urine, which is produced during pregnancy. It's also worth noting that the timing of the test is crucial; testing too early can lead to false negatives. However, since you are now several weeks past your expected period, the likelihood of a false negative is low.
The occasional abdominal pain you mentioned could be attributed to various factors unrelated to pregnancy, such as hormonal fluctuations, stress, or even gastrointestinal issues. It's not uncommon for women to experience changes in their menstrual cycle due to stress, changes in weight, exercise habits, or other lifestyle factors.
Given that your doctor has advised you to wait another week and return for further testing if your period does not arrive, this is a prudent approach. If your period still does not come after this time, it would be wise to follow up with your healthcare provider for additional evaluation. They may suggest further testing, such as blood tests, which can provide more definitive results regarding pregnancy and help rule out other potential issues.
In summary, based on the information provided, the likelihood of pregnancy seems low given the negative ultrasound and home pregnancy test results. However, if your period does not arrive in the next week, it is essential to consult with your healthcare provider for further investigation. They can help determine the underlying cause of your delayed period and provide appropriate guidance and treatment options. Remember, it's always best to communicate openly with your healthcare provider about your concerns and symptoms to ensure you receive the best care possible.
