Sharp pain in the lower triangular area of the abdomen near the base of the penis?

Recently, when I lightly pull the penis to the right, I experience a sharp pain in the lower left triangular area of the abdomen, close to the base of the penis.
Touching the painful area directly does not cause pain; it only occurs when I pull the penis.
The sharp pain lasts for less than a second.
Pulling the penis to the left does not cause any pain.
Additionally, I experience a similar sharp pain when my legs are tightly together.
What could be causing these symptoms? Is it necessary to seek medical attention? Thank you for your response!

Hello: The pulling and stabbing pain may be due to an injury, but a doctor's examination is necessary for a more accurate assessment.
Wishing you good health.

More Info

Experiencing pain near the penis, especially when pulling or stretching the area, can be concerning and may have several underlying causes. The symptoms you describe, particularly the sharp pain on the left side near the base of the penis when pulling it to the right, could be attributed to a few different factors.

Possible Causes
1. Nerve Irritation or Compression: The pain you feel could be due to irritation or compression of the nerves that innervate the genital area. This can happen if there is tension in the pelvic region or if certain positions put pressure on the nerves.

2. Muscle Strain: The pelvic floor muscles or the muscles surrounding the groin may be strained or tight, leading to discomfort when the penis is manipulated in certain ways. This can be exacerbated by activities that involve heavy lifting, prolonged sitting, or even certain exercises.

3. Inguinal Hernia: An inguinal hernia occurs when tissue, such as part of the intestine, protrudes through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles. This can cause pain in the lower abdomen and groin area, especially when straining or pulling in certain directions.

4. Testicular or Epididymal Issues: Conditions affecting the testicles or epididymis, such as epididymitis (inflammation of the epididymis) or testicular torsion, can also cause referred pain that might be felt near the base of the penis.

5. Peyronie's Disease: This condition involves the development of fibrous scar tissue inside the penis, which can cause pain and curvature during erections. While this typically presents differently, it’s worth considering if there are any other symptoms.

6. Pelvic Floor Dysfunction: Tightness or dysfunction in the pelvic floor muscles can lead to pain during certain movements or positions. This is often associated with chronic pelvic pain syndrome.

When to Seek Help
Given the nature of your symptoms, it is advisable to seek medical attention, especially if:
- The pain persists or worsens over time.

- You experience additional symptoms such as swelling, redness, or warmth in the area.

- There are changes in urinary habits, such as pain during urination or blood in the urine.

- You experience any changes in sexual function or discomfort during erections.

A healthcare provider can perform a physical examination and may order imaging studies or other tests to determine the underlying cause of your pain. Early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent potential complications and provide relief.

Conclusion
While occasional discomfort may not be a cause for alarm, the specific nature of your symptoms—particularly the sharp pain during certain movements—warrants a professional evaluation. It’s essential to address any concerns regarding pain in the genital area, as it can be indicative of various conditions that may require treatment. Don't hesitate to reach out to a urologist or a primary care physician who can guide you through the necessary steps for diagnosis and management.
