Bleeding behind the ear?

Recently, I have been experiencing bleeding behind my ear, specifically at the junction where the ear connects.
Sometimes, when I scratch that area, it starts to bleed, and the bleeding site appears to have a purplish bruise-like color.
Initially, when I squeeze the area, the blood is not bright red; it is thick and somewhat dark red.
After squeezing, it turns into a yellowish fluid.
This situation has been occurring frequently, and sometimes I only notice the dried blood behind my ear upon waking up.
The bleeding seems to be coming from the pores behind my ear, and I am a bit concerned that it might be related to a lymphatic issue.

More Info

Ear bleeding, particularly from the area behind the ear, can be concerning and may indicate several underlying issues. Based on your description, it seems that you are experiencing bleeding that is dark red and thick, which then transitions to a yellowish fluid. This could suggest a few potential causes, and understanding these can help you determine the next steps for treatment.

Possible Causes of Ear Bleeding
1. Infection: One of the most common causes of bleeding from the ear area is an infection, which could be either in the outer ear (otitis externa) or the middle ear (otitis media). Infections can lead to inflammation and the formation of pus, which may appear as yellow fluid. If the infection is severe, it can also cause bleeding.

2. Trauma: If you have been scratching or manipulating the area behind your ear, it could lead to minor trauma, resulting in bleeding. The skin in this area is delicate, and any aggressive action can cause small blood vessels to rupture.

3. Dermatological Conditions: Conditions such as eczema or psoriasis can affect the skin behind the ear, leading to irritation, inflammation, and potential bleeding. If you have a history of skin conditions, this could be a contributing factor.

4. Lymphatic Issues: You mentioned concerns about lymphatic problems. The lymph nodes located behind the ear can become swollen due to infections or other inflammatory processes, which might lead to bleeding if they are under pressure or if there is significant irritation.

5. Tumors or Growths: Although less common, growths such as cysts or tumors can develop in the ear area. These can sometimes bleed if they become inflamed or if there is trauma to the area.

Recommendations
Given the symptoms you are experiencing, it is essential to seek medical attention. Here are some steps you can take:
- Consult an ENT Specialist: An Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist can perform a thorough examination of your ears and the surrounding areas. They may use an otoscope to look inside your ear canal and assess for any signs of infection or other abnormalities.

- Diagnostic Imaging: If necessary, your doctor may recommend imaging studies, such as an ultrasound or CT scan, to evaluate the structures behind your ear and rule out any serious conditions.

- Avoid Manipulation: Try to avoid scratching or pressing on the area behind your ear, as this can exacerbate the bleeding and irritation.

- Monitor Symptoms: Keep track of any additional symptoms you may experience, such as fever, increased pain, or changes in hearing. This information will be helpful for your healthcare provider.

- Treatment: Depending on the diagnosis, treatment may include antibiotics for infections, topical treatments for skin conditions, or other interventions tailored to your specific needs.

Conclusion
Bleeding from the ear area, especially if it is recurrent, should not be ignored. While it may be due to a minor issue, it could also indicate a more serious condition that requires medical intervention. By consulting with a healthcare professional, you can receive an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment to address your concerns effectively. Remember, early intervention is key to preventing complications and ensuring your overall health.
