Small red spots occasionally appear all over the body?

Recently, I've noticed some irregular red spots appearing on my fingers, the back of my hands, and wrists.
I did some research online and found that it might not be a serious issue.
Indeed, after a while, the red spots fade and disappear, but I notice that when one spot disappears, new ones appear elsewhere.
Gradually, I've also seen red spots on the skin near my ribs close to my collarbone, and even on the tops of my feet, although they also disappear.
They are not painful or itchy, but sometimes there are one or two spots that feel a bit hard and slightly tender to the touch.
I would like to know if this is an abnormal phenomenon.
Initially, I thought it might be due to increased physical activity causing minor blood vessel ruptures that get reabsorbed, but since I've noticed spots outside of my hands as well, I'm seeking clarification on whether this is normal.
Thank you, doctor, for taking the time to address my concerns.

Without actually seeing the lesion, it is impossible to determine the issue.
If it is very concerning, please seek medical attention as soon as possible.
A proper examination is necessary to understand the problem and to determine how to address it.

The appearance of unexplained red spots on the skin can be concerning, especially when they seem to appear and disappear without a clear cause. Based on your description, it sounds like you are experiencing transient erythematous lesions that are not accompanied by pain or itching, which is a positive sign. However, the fact that these spots are appearing in various locations, including your hands, wrists, and even near your collarbone, warrants further investigation.

There are several potential causes for the red spots you are experiencing. One possibility is petechiae, which are small red or purple spots that occur when tiny blood vessels (capillaries) bleed into the skin. This can happen due to various reasons, including physical trauma, certain medications, or underlying medical conditions. Given that you mentioned increased physical activity, it is plausible that minor trauma could lead to these spots, especially if you are engaging in activities that involve repetitive motion or impact.

Another consideration is the possibility of an allergic reaction or dermatitis. Allergic reactions can manifest as red spots or rashes, often triggered by contact with irritants or allergens. If you have recently changed any products, such as soaps, lotions, or detergents, this could be a contributing factor. Additionally, conditions like eczema or psoriasis can also present with red spots or patches on the skin.

In some cases, the appearance of red spots can be associated with systemic conditions, such as vasculitis or other autoimmune disorders. These conditions can cause inflammation of the blood vessels, leading to skin changes. However, these are typically accompanied by other symptoms, such as fever, fatigue, or joint pain.

Since you mentioned that the spots sometimes feel slightly hard and can be mildly painful, this could indicate a localized inflammatory response. It is essential to monitor these spots closely. If they continue to appear, change in appearance, or if you develop additional symptoms (such as fever, fatigue, or joint pain), it would be prudent to seek medical attention.

In terms of management, if the spots are not causing significant discomfort and are not associated with other concerning symptoms, you may choose to observe them for now. Keeping the skin moisturized and avoiding known irritants can help maintain skin health. However, if you notice any changes or if the spots become more persistent, a visit to a dermatologist would be advisable. They can perform a thorough examination, possibly including a skin biopsy or blood tests, to determine the underlying cause and recommend appropriate treatment.

In conclusion, while the transient nature of the red spots and the absence of pain or itching are reassuring, it is essential to remain vigilant. If you have any concerns or if the situation changes, do not hesitate to consult a healthcare professional for a comprehensive evaluation. Your skin health is important, and understanding the underlying causes of these symptoms is crucial for effective management.
