White spots near the urethral opening?
I have a row of white spots on both sides of my urethral opening (both sides).
They are more noticeable when I have an erection, and they can also be seen when the skin is pulled flat when not erect.
They appear to be under the skin and are not very protruding.
I'm worried it might be genital warts.
I am 16 years old and only engage in masturbation, with no sexual intercourse.
I noticed this about two months ago and hope the doctor can help me understand.
Also, is it safe to wash my hands with soap or dishwashing liquid after touching myself?

The presence of white bumps near the urethra, especially in a 16-year-old male, can be concerning, but it is important to approach this situation with a calm and informed perspective. Given your description, these bumps could be a variety of things, and understanding their nature is crucial for your peace of mind and health.
One common possibility for white bumps in the genital area is pearly penile papules. These are small, harmless, dome-shaped bumps that typically appear around the corona of the glans (the head of the penis). They are a normal anatomical variation and are not associated with any disease or infection. Pearly penile papules are often mistaken for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) due to their appearance, but they are completely benign and do not require treatment.
Another possibility could be sebaceous cysts, which are small, non-painful lumps that can occur when sebaceous glands become clogged. These cysts are filled with a fatty substance and are generally harmless. They can appear anywhere on the body, including the genital area.
However, it is also important to consider other conditions, such as genital warts, which are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Genital warts can appear as small, flesh-colored or white bumps and may be raised or flat. They are typically transmitted through sexual contact, but since you mentioned that you have not engaged in sexual activity, the likelihood of this being the case is lower. Nevertheless, it is essential to monitor any changes in the bumps, such as growth, color change, or discomfort.
Regarding your concern about hygiene, it is generally safe to wash your hands with soap after touching your genital area, as long as you are using a mild soap that does not irritate the skin. Avoid using harsh chemicals, such as dish soap, as they can cause irritation or allergic reactions. Proper hygiene is important, especially in the genital area, to prevent infections.
Given the variety of possibilities for the white bumps you are experiencing, it is highly advisable to consult a healthcare professional, such as a dermatologist or urologist. They can provide a thorough examination and possibly perform tests to determine the exact nature of the bumps. This will help alleviate any fears you may have regarding serious conditions and provide you with appropriate guidance or treatment if necessary.
In summary, while the appearance of white bumps near the urethra can be alarming, many causes are benign. It is crucial to seek professional medical advice to ensure accurate diagnosis and peace of mind. Remember, maintaining good hygiene and being aware of any changes in your body are essential steps in taking care of your health.
