Help! There is something growing on the shaft of my penis?

Hello doctor, here’s the situation: I have developed a white bump at the junction of my penis and body, in the area where pubic hair grows.
It looks somewhat like a pimple.
When I squeezed it, it seemed to be empty inside, but it bled a little, and then it appeared to become inflamed, getting larger and red around it.
Additionally, I have suddenly noticed another white bump on the skin of my penis, which also resembles a pimple.
There are multiple bumps, but they are not clustered together; they are dispersed and not painful or itchy, and there is no redness or swelling around them.
I would like to know if this could be a skin condition or if I might have contracted some disease.
I also seem to have some Fordyce spots on my penis.
Thank you for your help, doctor.

When it comes to unusual bumps on the penis, there are several potential causes, and it's important to approach the situation with care and consideration. Based on your description, it sounds like you are experiencing a couple of different types of bumps: one near the base of the penis that resembles a pimple and another that appears as white bumps scattered on the penile skin.

Firstly, the bump at the base of your penis, which you described as white and similar to a pimple, could be a sebaceous cyst or a follicular cyst. These types of cysts are common and occur when a hair follicle becomes clogged with oil and dead skin cells. They are usually harmless and can sometimes resolve on their own. However, if you squeezed it and it bled, it may have become inflamed or infected, which could explain the redness and swelling you are experiencing. In such cases, it's advisable to avoid further squeezing or irritating the area, as this can exacerbate the inflammation and lead to more serious infections.

The white bumps on the skin of your penis could be a variety of things. One possibility is pearly penile papules, which are small, harmless bumps that typically appear around the corona of the glans (the head of the penis). They are a normal anatomical variation and do not require treatment. Another possibility is Fordyce spots, which are small, painless, pale bumps that are actually enlarged sebaceous glands. These are also normal and not a cause for concern.

However, if the bumps are new, changing, or accompanied by other symptoms such as pain, itching, or discharge, it could indicate a sexually transmitted infection (STI) or another dermatological condition. Conditions such as genital warts, herpes, or molluscum contagiosum can present with bumps or lesions on the genital area. Given your history of sexual activity, it is essential to consider these possibilities seriously.

In your case, since you have noticed changes in the bumps and have experienced bleeding and inflammation, it would be prudent to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider, preferably a dermatologist or urologist, can perform a physical examination and may recommend tests to determine the exact nature of the bumps. They can also provide appropriate treatment options if necessary.

In summary, while some bumps on the penis can be benign and normal anatomical variations, changes in the skin, especially those that involve bleeding, inflammation, or discomfort, warrant a professional evaluation. It's always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to your health, particularly with conditions related to sexual health. Seeking medical advice will not only help alleviate your concerns but also ensure that any potential issues are addressed promptly and effectively.
