Ligament issues
About 10 days ago, I consulted a doctor regarding a skin tear on my foreskin.
After applying povidone-iodine for about a week, I currently do not experience any stinging sensation when rinsing or touching it.
I would like to ask a few more questions:
1.
I visually notice what seems to be a small indentation; could this be a scar? Is there a need for treatment?
2.
I am currently only rinsing with water, but I feel a sticking sensation when retracting the foreskin.
Could this be due to inadequate cleaning?
3.
Additionally, I also feel that the area between the foreskin is very dry.
Should I apply lotion or petroleum jelly?
4.
How can I confirm that I have fully healed and can engage in sexual activity or masturbation?
Thank you, doctor, for your kind responses; I greatly appreciate it.

Hello: 1) There appears to be a small indentation; could it be a scar? Is treatment necessary? -> No treatment is needed, but it may be a sign of incomplete healing.
2) It's normal for it to stick; if there is no redness, it is likely due to incomplete drying.
Make sure to dry off after urination.
3) It is not recommended to apply anything unless there is inflammation or other issues.
4) After one week, it has healed, but the tissue is still fragile, so avoid excessive force to prevent re-injury.
Wishing you good health.

When dealing with skin issues, particularly in sensitive areas like the genital region, it's essential to approach healing and care with caution and informed guidance. Based on your questions, let's address each concern systematically.
1. Scar Formation: The small indentation you see could potentially be a scar, especially if the area experienced significant trauma. Scars can form as part of the natural healing process. If the skin has healed well and there is no pain or irritation, it may not require any specific treatment. However, if the scar appears raised, discolored, or is causing discomfort, consulting a dermatologist for evaluation and possible treatment options, such as silicone gel sheets or topical treatments, would be advisable.
2. Feeling of Adhesion: The sensation of the skin sticking or feeling "glued" when retracting the foreskin could be due to a few factors. It may indicate that the area is still healing, and some residual inflammation or dryness is present. If you are only rinsing with water, it might not be sufficient to keep the area clean and hydrated. Gentle cleansing with a mild, unscented soap can help, but ensure to rinse thoroughly to avoid irritation.
3. Dryness and Moisturization: If you are experiencing dryness in the area, applying a gentle, hypoallergenic moisturizer or a thin layer of petroleum jelly (like Vaseline) can help alleviate discomfort. This can prevent the skin from becoming too dry and can help maintain moisture, especially if you are in a dry environment. However, avoid using products with fragrances or harsh chemicals, as these can irritate sensitive skin.
4. Confirming Recovery: To determine if you have fully healed and can resume sexual activity or masturbation, look for signs such as the absence of pain, irritation, or unusual discharge. The skin should appear normal in color and texture, and you should feel comfortable during movement. If you have any doubts or if the area still feels sensitive, it’s best to wait a bit longer and consult with a healthcare provider before resuming sexual activities. They can provide a thorough examination and confirm that healing is complete.
In summary, while minor skin issues can often resolve on their own, it’s crucial to monitor the healing process closely. If you notice any changes or if symptoms persist, seeking medical advice is always the best course of action. Proper hygiene, gentle cleansing, and moisturizing can significantly aid in recovery. Always prioritize your comfort and health, and don’t hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional for personalized advice.
