Issues Observed Over the Past Year Regarding Masturbation

Hello Doctor, I would like to inquire about orgasm during masturbation.
I am a man with a high sex drive, and up until a year ago, I frequently masturbated (sometimes daily).
Is this considered normal? However, reflecting on the past few years, I have noticed that during each orgasm, no sperm is released; instead, there is prostatic fluid, and I still reach orgasm.
I am wondering if my previous daily masturbation has led to a depletion of sperm, resulting in "dry orgasms." Initially, I did release sperm, but over the years, the amount has decreased, leading to no sperm being expelled during masturbation, although there is still some prostatic fluid.
I have undergone "prostate examinations" and "urine tests after masturbation," both of which showed normal results.
However, the absence of sperm during ejaculation has been damaging to my self-esteem, especially as an only child.
Additionally, I tried to abstain from masturbation from May 23 to June 4, but the result was the same.
Could my previous frequent masturbation have caused a depletion of semen? Thank you, Doctor, for considering my question, and I appreciate your response.

Ejaculation issues, particularly the experience of "dry orgasms" or ejaculation without sperm, can be concerning for many men, especially when linked to frequent masturbation. Your situation raises several important points that warrant discussion.

Firstly, it's essential to understand that masturbation is a normal sexual activity for many individuals. Frequency can vary widely among men, and what is considered "normal" can differ from person to person. Masturbating daily is not inherently harmful, but it can lead to physical and psychological effects if it becomes compulsive or interferes with daily life and relationships.

In your case, the experience of achieving orgasm without the release of sperm may be related to several factors. One possibility is that frequent masturbation can lead to temporary changes in the body’s ability to produce and store semen. The prostate and seminal vesicles, which contribute to the fluid in semen, may take time to replenish after frequent ejaculation. This could explain why you initially experienced normal ejaculation but have since noticed a decrease in sperm output.

Another factor to consider is the psychological aspect of sexual performance. Anxiety about sexual function can create a cycle of stress that may further inhibit your ability to ejaculate normally. This stress can lead to a heightened focus on the act of ejaculation itself, which may paradoxically make it more difficult to achieve. It's important to approach sexual activity, including masturbation, with a relaxed mindset to help alleviate performance anxiety.

You mentioned that you have undergone prostate examinations and urinalysis, which returned normal results. This is a positive sign, indicating that there may not be any underlying medical conditions affecting your reproductive health. However, if you continue to experience issues, it may be beneficial to consult with a urologist or a sexual health specialist who can provide further evaluation and guidance.

In terms of managing your situation, consider the following strategies:
1. Moderation: If you suspect that frequency may be impacting your sexual health, try to reduce the frequency of masturbation gradually. This can help your body replenish its semen supply and may improve your experience over time.

2. Relaxation Techniques: Incorporate relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, mindfulness, or meditation into your routine. These practices can help reduce anxiety and improve your overall sexual experience.

3. Focus on Intimacy: If possible, try to engage in sexual activities with a partner. This can help shift your focus from performance to intimacy, which may alleviate some of the pressure you feel during solo activities.

4. Seek Professional Help: If your concerns persist or worsen, consider seeking help from a mental health professional who specializes in sexual health. They can help address any underlying anxiety or self-esteem issues related to your sexual function.

5. Educate Yourself: Understanding more about male sexual health, including the physiology of ejaculation and the effects of frequent masturbation, can empower you and reduce anxiety related to your experiences.

In conclusion, while frequent masturbation can lead to temporary changes in ejaculation, it is typically not a cause for alarm. By moderating your habits, focusing on relaxation, and seeking professional guidance if necessary, you can work towards resolving your concerns and improving your sexual health. Remember, open communication with healthcare providers is key to addressing any sexual health issues effectively.
