Bleeding from the foreskin?

Hello, doctor.
I have a condition of phimosis and have been masturbating frequently lately.
Today, during masturbation for about 3 to 5 minutes, I noticed a small area of the foreskin that appeared to have a microvascular rupture, with a little bit of bleeding (not a lot).
Since this is the first time it has happened, I immediately stopped masturbating and cleaned the area.
I would like to ask if this is due to excessive frequency and force? If I need to take care of the wound, how should I proceed?

Hello: You can use povidone-iodine for cleaning, but bleeding is not common.
It is recommended that you consult a urologist at the hospital for an examination.
If bleeding recurs, it may lead to scar tissue formation.
Wishing you good health.

More Info

Minor bleeding from the foreskin can be concerning, especially if it occurs unexpectedly during activities such as masturbation. The situation you described, where you experienced a small amount of bleeding after frequent masturbation, is not uncommon and can be attributed to several factors.

Causes of Minor Bleeding from the Foreskin
1. Friction and Trauma: Frequent masturbation can lead to friction against the sensitive skin of the foreskin. If the skin is pulled back too forcefully or if there is excessive rubbing, it can cause micro-tears in the delicate tissue, leading to minor bleeding.

2. Pre-existing Conditions: Conditions such as phimosis (where the foreskin cannot be easily retracted) can increase the risk of injury during masturbation. If the foreskin is tight, it may not retract smoothly, leading to trauma.

3. Infection or Inflammation: In some cases, infections (like balanitis) or inflammation of the foreskin can make the tissue more susceptible to bleeding. If there is any redness, swelling, or discharge, it may indicate an underlying infection that requires medical attention.

4. Dryness: If the skin is dry or irritated, it can become more prone to cracking and bleeding. This can be exacerbated by frequent washing or using harsh soaps.

Care and Management
1. Stop Irritating Activities: As you did, it’s important to stop any activities that may have caused the bleeding. Give your body time to heal.

2. Gentle Cleaning: Clean the area gently with warm water. Avoid using soaps or products that may irritate the skin further. Pat the area dry with a soft towel.

3. Moisturization: If the skin appears dry, consider using a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer or a barrier cream to keep the area hydrated. This can help prevent further irritation.

4. Avoid Further Trauma: Be mindful of how you handle the foreskin in the future. Avoid aggressive retraction or excessive friction during masturbation.

5. Monitor Symptoms: Keep an eye on the area for any signs of infection, such as increased redness, swelling, or discharge. If the bleeding recurs or if you notice any concerning symptoms, it’s important to seek medical advice.

6. Consult a Healthcare Provider: If you experience recurrent bleeding, pain, or any other unusual symptoms, it’s advisable to consult a healthcare provider. They can assess for any underlying conditions, such as phimosis or infections, and provide appropriate treatment options.

Conclusion
In summary, minor bleeding from the foreskin can often be attributed to friction or trauma, especially with frequent masturbation. Proper care involves gentle cleaning, avoiding further irritation, and monitoring for any signs of infection. If symptoms persist or worsen, seeking medical advice is crucial to ensure proper management and care. Remember, maintaining good hygiene and being gentle with sensitive areas of the body can help prevent such occurrences in the future.
