Chest issues
Hello Doctor, I apologize for bothering you, but I would like to ask a question.
My menstrual cycle has been irregular lately, and two days ago, I visited a gynecologist who prescribed Shiton S.C.
Tab 5mg and Estromon Tab 0.625mg.
Both medications have side effects including breast pain, and recently I have been experiencing mild swelling and dull pain in my breasts.
I would like to know if it would be advisable to undergo a breast examination at this time, considering my current situation.
Additionally, after being diagnosed with hormonal imbalance, I noticed that my left nipple appears to have a small indentation, and when squeezed, it only produces a small opening that secretes a substance resembling a comedone.
In contrast, my right nipple looks normal, but when squeezed, it produces several small openings that also secrete a similar comedone-like substance.
Should I seek further examination for this condition? Thank you, Doctor.

Breast pain and hormonal imbalance can be concerning symptoms that warrant careful evaluation. Based on your description, it seems you are experiencing breast tenderness and changes in your nipple discharge, which can be linked to hormonal fluctuations, especially if you have recently been prescribed medications like Shiton and Estromon that can have side effects including breast pain.
First, it is important to understand that breast pain, or mastalgia, can be categorized into cyclical and non-cyclical pain. Cyclical breast pain is often related to hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle, while non-cyclical pain may be due to other factors such as trauma, infections, or even stress. Given that you mentioned your menstrual cycle is currently irregular, it is possible that the hormonal medications you are taking are influencing your breast sensitivity.
Regarding your concern about the nipple discharge, the description of your left nipple appearing to have a small hole and discharging a substance resembling a pimple could indicate a few possibilities. It is essential to differentiate between normal physiological discharge and abnormal discharge that may require further investigation. Normal discharge can occur due to hormonal changes, especially if you are experiencing hormonal imbalances. However, if the discharge is spontaneous, bloody, or associated with other symptoms such as a lump or persistent pain, it is crucial to seek medical attention.
You asked whether it is advisable to undergo a breast examination at this time. Generally, it is recommended to perform breast examinations when you are not experiencing significant tenderness, as this can help provide clearer results. However, if you are experiencing persistent pain or changes in your breast or nipple, it is prudent to consult with a healthcare provider sooner rather than later. They may recommend imaging studies such as a mammogram or ultrasound to rule out any underlying issues.
In your case, given the combination of hormonal treatment, breast pain, and unusual nipple discharge, it would be wise to schedule a follow-up appointment with your healthcare provider. They can perform a thorough evaluation, including a physical examination and possibly additional tests to ensure that there are no serious underlying conditions.
Additionally, if you have concerns about the hormonal medications you are taking, discussing these with your doctor is important. They may consider adjusting your treatment plan or exploring alternative options that might alleviate your symptoms without compromising your health.
In summary, breast pain and changes in nipple discharge can be indicative of hormonal imbalances or other underlying conditions. It is essential to monitor your symptoms closely and seek medical attention if they persist or worsen. Regular check-ups and open communication with your healthcare provider are key to managing your breast health effectively.
