Problems with foreskin itching?
I would like to ask the doctor, after doing DIY yesterday, I used body wash on my penis while showering about 10 minutes later, but I only washed the external part of the foreskin and rinsed it off.
I opened it up to clean it thoroughly, but after washing, I noticed a small area on the lower right side of the urinary opening that has been itchy, although it's not extremely itchy.
I woke up today and still have this issue, but upon observation, it doesn't seem to be red, inflamed, or broken.
Is this normal, or should I observe it for a few more days?

More Info
Itchy foreskin can be a common issue and may arise from various causes. Based on your description, it seems you experienced some irritation after washing your genital area with body wash, while also cleaning the foreskin. Here’s a comprehensive understanding of potential causes and when to seek medical help.
Causes of Itchy Foreskin
1. Irritation from Products: The use of soaps, body washes, or other personal care products can sometimes lead to irritation, especially if they contain fragrances or harsh chemicals. The skin in the genital area is sensitive, and using products not specifically designed for that area can cause discomfort.
2. Inadequate Rinsing: If soap residue remains on the skin after washing, it can lead to irritation and itching. It’s essential to thoroughly rinse the area to remove any soap or body wash completely.
3. Fungal Infections: Conditions such as candidiasis (yeast infection) can cause itching and discomfort. These infections can occur in warm, moist areas and may not always present with redness or visible irritation.
4. Bacterial Infections: Bacterial infections can also lead to itching and discomfort. These may sometimes be accompanied by unusual discharge or odor.
5. Allergic Reactions: An allergic reaction to a product used on the skin can cause localized itching. This could be due to a new soap, lotion, or even laundry detergent used on clothing.
6. Skin Conditions: Conditions like eczema or psoriasis can affect the genital area, leading to itching and discomfort. These conditions may require specific treatments.
7. Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): While you mentioned no visible symptoms like redness or sores, it’s important to consider that some STIs can cause itching without other noticeable symptoms.
When to Seek Help
Given that you are experiencing mild itching without any significant symptoms such as redness, inflammation, or broken skin, it may be reasonable to observe the situation for a few days. However, you should seek medical attention if:
- The itching persists or worsens over the next few days.
- You develop additional symptoms such as redness, swelling, or discharge.
- You experience pain or discomfort during urination or sexual activity.
- There are any signs of infection, such as a foul odor or unusual discharge.
Recommendations
1. Gentle Cleaning: Continue to clean the area gently with water. If you choose to use soap, opt for a mild, fragrance-free product designed for sensitive skin.
2. Avoid Irritants: Refrain from using any new products until the itching resolves. This includes soaps, lotions, or any personal care products that may irritate the skin.
3. Monitor Symptoms: Keep an eye on the symptoms. If they do not improve or if new symptoms develop, it’s important to consult a healthcare provider.
4. Consult a Doctor: If you have any concerns about STIs or if the itching does not resolve, it’s best to consult a healthcare professional for a proper evaluation and potential treatment.
In summary, while mild itching after washing may not be a cause for immediate concern, monitoring the situation and being aware of any changes is crucial. If symptoms persist or worsen, seeking medical advice is the best course of action to ensure proper care and treatment.
