Masturbation issues?

Hello doctor, I started masturbating around kindergarten using a friction method, lying on the floor with my penis facing down and rubbing my body up and down.
At that young age, I didn't understand what I was doing; I just knew it felt good.
It wasn't until middle school that I realized this was masturbation.
I've been using this friction method since kindergarten, and now I find it difficult to masturbate like others do with their hands.
Additionally, when I experience an erection, I can't retract my foreskin (it feels very tight).
While my penis can become larger and harder when I use my hands, I only feel some pleasure at the glans, but I can't ejaculate, and it doesn't feel as pleasurable as the friction method.
Is this normal? If not, how can I improve this situation?

If phimosis persists into adulthood, circumcision may be considered.

Understanding the impact of childhood masturbation techniques on adult sexual health is a complex topic that intertwines physical, psychological, and social aspects of development. Your experience with using a pressure-based technique for masturbation from a young age is not uncommon, especially among children who are exploring their bodies and discovering what feels pleasurable. However, the long-term effects of such techniques can vary from person to person.

Firstly, it’s important to recognize that masturbation is a normal part of human sexuality, and many individuals engage in it during their childhood and adolescence. The methods used can differ widely, and what you described—using body pressure against a surface—can be a common exploratory behavior. However, if this technique has become your primary method of sexual arousal and you find it difficult to achieve satisfaction through other means, it may indicate a need for adjustment.

Regarding your concerns about the tightness of the foreskin and the inability to retract it when engorged, this condition is known as phimosis. Phimosis is relatively common in younger males and can sometimes resolve on its own as one matures. However, if it persists into adulthood and causes discomfort or difficulty during sexual activity, it may require medical evaluation. A healthcare provider can assess whether treatment is necessary, which may include topical steroid creams or, in some cases, surgical options.

As for the psychological aspect, the way you masturbate can influence your sexual responses and preferences later in life. If you find that you are unable to achieve orgasm through traditional methods, it might be beneficial to explore different techniques gradually. This could involve using your hands in a way that feels comfortable, experimenting with different types of stimulation, or even seeking guidance from a sex therapist who can provide tailored advice and support.

It's also essential to consider the potential impact of early sexual experiences on your overall sexual health. Engaging in masturbation at a young age is generally considered normal, but if it becomes compulsive or interferes with daily life, relationships, or responsibilities, it may be worth discussing with a mental health professional. They can help you explore any underlying issues and develop healthier sexual habits.

In summary, while your experiences with masturbation are not unusual, the concerns you have about your sexual health and function are valid. It’s crucial to approach this topic with openness and seek professional advice if you feel that your sexual health is being affected. A healthcare provider can offer guidance on both the physical aspects, such as phimosis, and the psychological aspects, helping you to develop a healthier relationship with your sexuality. Remember, sexual health is an integral part of overall well-being, and seeking help is a positive step towards understanding and improving your sexual health.
