Seminal fluid allergy?

My girlfriend and I have engaged in oral sex, and I have also had external ejaculation on her abdomen.
We have not had unprotected intercourse, and there has been no redness or swelling on her abdomen, nor any abnormalities in her oral cavity.
However, after becoming sexually active, I developed eczema on my hands, which I have never had before.
The eczema has not improved significantly even when I am not engaging in sexual activity (it's been about a month).
I would like to know if this could be a semen allergy.
Thank you.

Hello, that should not be the case.
If you still have discomfort, I recommend seeing a dermatologist.

Understanding semen allergy is an important aspect of sexual health, particularly for individuals who may experience unusual symptoms following sexual activity. Semen allergy, also known as human seminal plasma hypersensitivity, is a rare condition where the immune system reacts adversely to proteins found in a partner's semen. This can lead to various symptoms, which may include localized reactions such as redness, swelling, and itching in the genital area, or systemic reactions like hives, respiratory issues, or even anaphylaxis in severe cases.

In your situation, you mentioned that you have engaged in oral sex and external ejaculation on your abdomen without experiencing any immediate allergic reactions such as redness or swelling in those areas. However, you are now experiencing eczema on your hands, which has persisted for about a month. It is important to note that while semen allergy can cause localized symptoms, it typically does not manifest as eczema on the hands unless there is direct contact with the semen or seminal fluid.

Eczema, or dermatitis, can have various causes, including allergic reactions, irritants, stress, or underlying skin conditions. Since you have not had a history of hand eczema prior to your sexual activity, it is possible that the eczema could be related to another factor rather than a semen allergy. For instance, if there was any contact with irritants or allergens during sexual activity, or if there are other environmental factors at play, these could contribute to the development of eczema.

To determine whether your symptoms are indeed related to a semen allergy, consider the following steps:
1. Consult a Healthcare Professional: It is crucial to discuss your symptoms with a healthcare provider, preferably an allergist or dermatologist. They can perform tests to determine if you have a specific allergy to semen or if there are other underlying causes for your eczema.

2. Keep a Symptom Diary: Document when your eczema flares up, any potential triggers, and the context of your sexual activity. This information can help your healthcare provider identify patterns and potential causes.

3. Consider Allergy Testing: If semen allergy is suspected, your doctor may recommend allergy testing, which could include skin prick tests or blood tests to identify specific allergens.

4. Evaluate Other Potential Causes: Since your eczema has not improved without sexual activity, it may be beneficial to explore other causes, such as contact dermatitis from soaps, detergents, or other irritants that may have come into contact with your hands.

5. Treatment Options: If a semen allergy is confirmed, treatment may involve avoiding contact with semen or using barrier methods during sexual activity. For eczema, topical corticosteroids or other dermatological treatments may be prescribed to alleviate symptoms.

In conclusion, while it is possible to develop a semen allergy, the symptoms you are experiencing may not be directly related to this condition. A thorough evaluation by a healthcare professional is essential to accurately diagnose the issue and recommend appropriate treatment. Remember that sexual health is a vital part of overall well-being, and addressing any concerns with a qualified professional can lead to better health outcomes.
