Circumcision was performed on November 2nd?
I would like to ask the doctor, I had a circumcision on November 2nd, and today is the ninth day.
On Monday, November 9th, I had a follow-up appointment, and the doctor said the wound is healing very well.
Since Monday, there has been no blood or yellow discharge on the dressing.
However, I would like to know when I can start taking normal showers, or should I wait until the stitches dissolve before I can wash? I have been experiencing erections these past few days, but I do not feel any pain.
Does this mean that the wound has really healed?

Hello: Once the wound has healed, it is advisable to avoid erections to prevent any complications with the wound.
It is recommended to wait about 10 to 14 days before taking a shower, but daily disinfection may be necessary.
Wishing you good health.

After circumcision, proper care is crucial for a smooth recovery. It’s great to hear that your follow-up appointment indicated that your wound is healing well. Generally, the timeline for resuming normal showering practices can vary based on individual healing rates and the surgeon's recommendations.
Typically, most surgeons advise that you can start showering normally about 7 to 10 days post-surgery, provided that the wound is healing well and there are no signs of infection. Since you mentioned that it has been nine days since your circumcision and your dressing has not shown any blood or yellow discharge, it sounds like you are on the right track. However, it is always best to follow your surgeon's specific instructions, as they are familiar with your individual case.
When you do start showering, it’s advisable to let the water run gently over the area rather than directly scrubbing it. Avoid soaking in baths or hot tubs until the area is fully healed, as these can introduce bacteria and increase the risk of infection. If you notice any unusual symptoms, such as increased redness, swelling, or discharge, you should contact your healthcare provider.
Regarding the sensation of erections, it is common for men to experience erections during the healing process. The absence of pain during these occurrences is a positive sign, indicating that your wound is likely healing well. However, if you experience any discomfort or pain during an erection, it’s important to consult your doctor.
In terms of the stitches, many circumcision procedures use dissolvable stitches, which typically fall out on their own within a couple of weeks. If you are unsure whether your stitches are dissolvable or if they need to be removed, it’s best to ask your doctor during your next appointment.
In summary, you may be able to start showering normally soon, but always prioritize the advice of your healthcare provider. Continue monitoring your healing process, and don’t hesitate to reach out to your doctor if you have any concerns. Your health and comfort are paramount, and ensuring that you follow the right care steps will help you recover effectively.
