Medication consultation, sexual desire issues?
Currently, I am taking Teralysal (Theralysal) 0.25 mg in the morning and evening.
Before bed, I take Stidnos (Stidnos) 10 mg, Anban (Anban) 0.5 mg, Lede (Lede) enteric-coated tablet 150 mg, and a small white round pill that I don't know the name of, which is labeled as Epice on the bag.
The side effects I have encountered include decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and difficulty urinating.
Could you please tell me which medications might be causing these symptoms? I have already expressed my concerns to my doctor, but there has been no improvement.

Hello, sir: Among the medications you are taking, the one most likely to cause decreased libido and urinary difficulties is Lexapro (escitalopram), which is an antidepressant classified as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI).
This class of medications often has side effects that affect sexual function, including decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and delayed ejaculation.
Additionally, due to Lexapro's strong anticholinergic effects, it can impact the contraction of the bladder muscles, potentially leading to urinary difficulties.
If the side effects are significant, possible ways to improve the situation include reducing the medication dosage or switching to alternatives with fewer such side effects, such as Wellbutrin (bupropion) or Prozac (fluoxetine).
However, the effects and side effects of different medications can vary, so it is advisable to discuss this with your physician.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!

When it comes to understanding medication side effects, particularly regarding sexual dysfunction, it is essential to recognize that many medications can have significant impacts on sexual health. In your case, you are taking several medications, including Trazodone (療利舒盼錠), Sildenafil (使蒂諾斯), and an unspecified medication referred to as "Epice," along with others. Each of these medications can contribute to the symptoms you are experiencing, such as reduced libido, erectile dysfunction, and urinary difficulties.
1. Trazodone (療利舒盼錠): This medication is primarily used as an antidepressant and is classified as a serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitor (SARI). One of the common side effects of Trazodone is sexual dysfunction, which can manifest as decreased libido, erectile difficulties, and delayed ejaculation. The mechanism behind this is related to its action on serotonin levels in the brain, which can inhibit sexual arousal and performance.
2. Sildenafil (使蒂諾斯): This medication is typically prescribed for erectile dysfunction and works by increasing blood flow to the penis. While it is designed to help with erections, it can sometimes lead to psychological dependence or anxiety about sexual performance, which can paradoxically affect sexual desire and function. However, it is less likely to be the primary cause of the symptoms you are experiencing.
3. Other Medications: The other medications you mentioned, including 安邦錠 (likely a form of antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication) and the unidentified "Epice," may also contribute to sexual dysfunction. Many antidepressants, particularly selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), are known to cause sexual side effects. If "Epice" is an SSRI or has similar properties, it could also be a contributing factor.
4. Urinary Difficulties: The urinary issues you are experiencing, such as needing to "brew" before urination, could also be linked to the anticholinergic effects of certain medications. Some antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications can affect bladder function, leading to urinary retention or difficulty initiating urination.
Given that you have already discussed these issues with your doctor without improvement, it may be beneficial to revisit this conversation. Here are some steps you can consider:
- Medication Review: Ask your doctor for a comprehensive review of all your medications. There may be alternatives available that have fewer sexual side effects. For example, switching from an SSRI to a medication with a lower incidence of sexual dysfunction, such as bupropion, might be an option.
- Dosage Adjustment: Sometimes, reducing the dosage of a medication can alleviate side effects while still providing therapeutic benefits. Discuss this possibility with your healthcare provider.
- Timing of Medications: The timing of when you take your medications can also influence side effects. For instance, taking certain medications at night may help mitigate daytime side effects.
- Counseling and Support: If the sexual dysfunction is causing significant distress, consider seeking counseling or therapy. A mental health professional can help address any psychological factors contributing to the issue.
- Lifestyle Modifications: Engaging in regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy diet, and managing stress can also improve sexual health and overall well-being.
In conclusion, sexual dysfunction can be a complex issue influenced by multiple factors, including medications, psychological state, and overall health. It is crucial to maintain open communication with your healthcare provider to find the most suitable approach to manage these side effects effectively.
