There are many red spots on the leg?
I recently noticed many small red spots on the inner sides of both my legs, each about 0.1 centimeters in size.
They are neither painful nor itchy, and they don't feel raised; it seems like they are beneath the skin.
There are over 100 spots on my left leg and about 20 to 30 on my right leg, and this has been the case throughout the year.

More Info
The appearance of red dots on the inner thighs, particularly when they are small (around 0.1 cm), non-painful, non-itchy, and seemingly embedded within the skin, can be concerning. However, there are several potential causes for these symptoms, and understanding them can help in determining the appropriate course of action.
Possible Causes
1. Petechiae: These are tiny red or purple spots that occur due to bleeding under the skin. They can be caused by various factors, including minor trauma, certain medications, or underlying health conditions that affect blood clotting.
2. Allergic Reactions: Allergies to certain substances, such as soaps, lotions, or fabrics, can lead to the development of small red spots. If you have recently changed any products that come into contact with your skin, this could be a potential cause.
3. Keratosis Pilaris: This is a common skin condition that results in small, rough bumps on the skin, often mistaken for red dots. It is caused by the buildup of keratin, a protein in the skin, and is generally harmless.
4. Folliculitis: Inflammation of hair follicles can lead to small red bumps. This condition can be caused by bacterial or fungal infections, irritation from shaving, or friction from clothing.
5. Vascular Conditions: Conditions that affect blood vessels, such as vasculitis, can also lead to the appearance of red spots. These conditions may require medical evaluation to rule out more serious underlying issues.
6. Infections: Certain viral or bacterial infections can cause a rash or spots on the skin. If you have other symptoms, such as fever or malaise, this could be a possibility.
Recommended Actions
1. Observation: Since the spots have been present for a long time and are not causing discomfort, it may be reasonable to monitor them for any changes. Look for signs of increased redness, swelling, or any new symptoms.
2. Avoid Irritants: If you suspect that the spots may be related to an allergic reaction or irritation, consider eliminating any new products or materials that may have come into contact with your skin.
3. Moisturize: Keeping the skin moisturized can help with conditions like keratosis pilaris and may improve the overall appearance of the skin.
4. Consult a Dermatologist: If the spots persist, change in appearance, or if you develop new symptoms, it is advisable to consult a dermatologist. They can perform a thorough examination, possibly including a skin biopsy or blood tests, to determine the exact cause.
5. Avoid Self-Diagnosis: While it can be tempting to self-diagnose based on online information, it is crucial to seek professional medical advice for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
Conclusion
In summary, the presence of numerous small red dots on your legs can be attributed to various benign conditions, but it is essential to monitor them and seek medical advice if necessary. A dermatologist will be able to provide a definitive diagnosis and recommend treatment options tailored to your specific situation. Remember, early intervention can often lead to better outcomes, especially if the condition is symptomatic of a more significant underlying issue.
