Glans issues
When showering, I find that simply cleaning the glans and retracting the foreskin easily leads to an erection, even without any stimulating thoughts.
I first gently rub the exposed skin to prevent any flakes, then I apply soap around the urethral opening and the area surrounding the foreskin.
After rinsing with water, I wash again before finishing up, and I retract the foreskin to rinse with clean water one more time.
However, the issue is that every time I clean, the glans becomes hard, which is very bothersome as it takes several hours during each shower.
Is there a way to improve this? This is a problem I have not experienced before, and I hope to find a solution.
I have considered that normal individuals often experience morning erections almost daily.

"First, gently rub the skin to prevent any flakes." This description suggests that you may be spending too much time examining your genitalia; it’s actually not that complicated, and some flakes are of little concern.
For cleaning, it’s not necessary to use soap; rinsing with plain water is sufficient.
The main point is to avoid scrubbing too hard, which could lead to injuries.
You shouldn't be spending several hours in the shower due to this issue.
Unless you have obsessive tendencies, it might be advisable to consult a mental health professional to discuss this with a doctor.

More Info
Managing unwanted erections during bathing can be a common concern for many men, and it often stems from a combination of physiological and psychological factors. The process of bathing, especially when it involves cleaning sensitive areas such as the glans (the head of the penis) and the foreskin, can inadvertently stimulate the erectile response. Here are some insights from a urological perspective on how to manage this situation effectively.
Understanding the Mechanism
Erections are primarily controlled by the nervous system and can be triggered by various stimuli, including physical sensations, thoughts, or even hormonal changes. During bathing, the warmth of the water, the sensation of washing, and the manipulation of the genital area can all contribute to an erection. This is a normal physiological response and does not necessarily indicate sexual arousal.
Strategies for Management
1. Mindfulness and Relaxation Techniques: One of the first steps in managing unwanted erections is to practice mindfulness. Focus on your breathing and try to relax your mind. Stress and anxiety can exacerbate the issue, so finding ways to calm your mind may help reduce the frequency of unwanted erections.
2. Adjusting Bathing Techniques: Consider altering your bathing routine. Instead of directly stimulating the area, you might try washing around the genital area without direct contact. This can help minimize the chances of triggering an erection.
3. Temperature Control: Hot water can increase blood flow and potentially lead to more frequent erections. Try using lukewarm water instead, as this may help reduce the likelihood of unwanted erections.
4. Timing and Environment: If possible, consider bathing at times when you are less likely to experience unwanted erections. For instance, if you notice that you tend to have morning erections, you might want to adjust your bathing schedule to later in the day.
5. Distraction Techniques: Engaging your mind in other thoughts or activities while bathing can help divert attention away from the sensations that may lead to an erection. Listening to music or thinking about non-sexual topics can be beneficial.
6. Consulting a Urologist: If this issue persists and significantly impacts your quality of life, it may be worth consulting a urologist. They can provide further insights and assess whether there are any underlying medical conditions contributing to the problem.
Psychological Considerations
It's important to recognize that unwanted erections can sometimes lead to feelings of embarrassment or anxiety. Understanding that this is a common experience can help alleviate some of the psychological stress associated with it. Engaging in open discussions with a healthcare provider can also provide reassurance and strategies tailored to your specific situation.
Conclusion
Unwanted erections during bathing are a common occurrence and can be managed through a combination of mindfulness, adjustments to bathing techniques, and possibly professional guidance. Remember that this is a normal physiological response, and with the right strategies, you can find a way to manage it effectively. If the problem continues to be bothersome, seeking advice from a urologist can provide additional support and solutions.
