Varicocele - Unable to wear long pants?

Since childhood, regardless of the style of long pants I wear, I always feel a strange discomfort after sitting for a while.
It's hard to describe this discomfort; it feels like tightness? Clinginess? Stifling? Or is it that area being overly sensitive? Many people's first thought is, "Are you wearing tight pants?" Absolutely not! Even wearing cotton pants feels the same.
Interestingly, I don't experience this discomfort when standing.
I have left-sided varicocele, which I believe measures around 2mm (if I recall correctly).
I have tried a medication recommended by a urologist called Aioufulong, but the actual effect seems limited.
Perhaps there is another underlying cause? Because of this discomfort, if I forget to bring shorts to change into, it becomes quite awkward, and sometimes shorts aren't very presentable.
Plus, working in a hospital, how could I possibly wear shorts? Sometimes it gets so extreme that even rigid shorts are uncomfortable to sit in, leading me to awkwardly adjust my pants.
What on earth is wrong with me? It's so frustrating!

Based on your description, the varicose veins do not seem to be severe.
Generally, the symptoms are not as serious as you mentioned.
However, it is still advisable to consult a urologist for a thorough examination to determine the underlying cause before considering treatment options.

Understanding discomfort while wearing long pants, especially in the context of urology, can be quite complex and multifaceted. Your description of the discomfort as a feeling of tightness, pressure, or sensitivity in the groin area can be indicative of several underlying issues, particularly given your history of left-sided varicocele (enlargement of veins within the scrotum).
First, let's explore the potential causes of your discomfort. Varicoceles can lead to a variety of symptoms, including a dull ache or discomfort in the groin or scrotum, especially when sitting for prolonged periods. The discomfort you experience while sitting in long pants may be exacerbated by the pressure that clothing places on the affected area. Even if you are wearing loose-fitting pants, the position of your body while sitting can increase pressure on the veins, leading to discomfort.

Another possibility is that the discomfort may be related to nerve sensitivity or irritation in the pelvic region. Conditions such as pudendal neuralgia, which involves irritation of the pudendal nerve, can cause discomfort in the genital area that may be exacerbated by certain positions or clothing. This could explain why you feel fine while standing but experience discomfort when sitting.

Additionally, the psychological aspect of discomfort should not be overlooked. Anxiety or stress related to your condition or the discomfort itself can heighten your perception of discomfort. This is particularly relevant if you have been preoccupied with your varicocele and its potential implications.

In terms of management, it may be beneficial to consider a few strategies:
1. Clothing Choices: While you mentioned that tight clothing is not the issue, experimenting with different styles and materials may help. Look for pants with a more relaxed fit or those made from breathable fabrics that allow for better airflow.

2. Positioning: When sitting, try to adjust your posture or use cushions that provide better support and reduce pressure on the groin area. You might also consider standing or taking breaks to walk around when possible.

3. Medical Evaluation: Given your history of varicocele and ongoing discomfort, it would be prudent to consult a urologist for a thorough evaluation. They may recommend imaging studies, such as an ultrasound, to assess the varicocele and rule out any other conditions that may be contributing to your discomfort.

4. Physical Therapy: If nerve sensitivity is suspected, pelvic floor physical therapy may be beneficial. A physical therapist specializing in pelvic health can help address any muscular or nerve-related issues contributing to your discomfort.

5. Medication: If the discomfort is significant, discussing medication options with your urologist may be worthwhile. They can provide guidance on whether medications for nerve pain or other treatments may be appropriate for your situation.

In conclusion, the discomfort you experience while wearing long pants could be related to your varicocele, nerve sensitivity, or even psychological factors. A comprehensive evaluation by a urologist will be essential in determining the underlying cause and developing an appropriate management plan. In the meantime, consider experimenting with clothing and positioning to find relief. Remember, you are not alone in this experience, and seeking help is a positive step towards finding a solution.
