Is applying New York new mycin effective for treating cauliflower warts?

Hello, I have a small wart, about the size of a five-cent coin.
However, the doctor only prescribed me New York Neomycin to apply and told me to keep applying it until it heals.
Is this okay?

Neomycin is an antibiotic that is primarily used to treat bacterial infections. It is not typically indicated for the treatment of warts, which are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Warts, including genital warts (often referred to as "菜花" in Mandarin), require specific treatments that target the virus rather than bacterial infections.

For the treatment of warts, there are several effective options available, including:
1. Topical Treatments: These include medications such as salicylic acid, which works by gradually peeling away the wart. Other topical treatments may include imiquimod, which stimulates the immune system to fight the virus.

2. Cryotherapy: This involves freezing the wart with liquid nitrogen, which causes the wart to fall off over time.

3. Laser Therapy: This method uses focused light to destroy the wart tissue.

4. Electrosurgery: This technique uses electrical currents to burn off the wart.

5. Surgical Removal: In some cases, warts may need to be surgically excised, especially if they are large or resistant to other treatments.

Using neomycin for warts may not be effective, as it does not have antiviral properties. While it may help prevent secondary bacterial infections in the area, it will not address the underlying viral cause of the warts. If your doctor has prescribed neomycin, it may be for a different reason, such as preventing infection in a wart that has been irritated or damaged.

It is essential to follow up with your healthcare provider to discuss your treatment plan. If you are not seeing improvement with neomycin or if you have concerns about the wart, it may be beneficial to ask about more appropriate treatments specifically designed for warts.
In summary, while neomycin is a useful antibiotic for bacterial infections, it is not an effective treatment for warts. It is crucial to use treatments that target the HPV virus to achieve the best results in wart management. If you have any further questions or concerns, please consult your healthcare provider for personalized advice and treatment options.
