Testicular Concerns: What You Need to Know - Urology

excuse me?

Doctor, I have something on my left testicle that is about 7mm wide and approximately 4cm long.
It feels about as firm as the testicle itself and is visible to the naked eye.
The right testicle feels like a blood vessel.
Is this a medical condition? (It has been there for several years and does not hurt.) Also, what is the average distance for ejaculation? I almost always have a dribbling effect (the volume should be considered normal, right?).
Do I need treatment? Please let me know, thank you.

STR, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2003/02/09

Hello: In response to your question, what you are feeling is likely the epididymis.
If there has been inflammation in the past, it may feel firmer.
The distance of ejaculation is related to the coordination of the pelvic floor muscles, and the length of the distance does not correlate with the likelihood of pregnancy, so no treatment is necessary.

When it comes to testicular concerns, it's essential to approach the subject with both caution and understanding. Based on your description, it sounds like you have noticed a notable change in your left testicle, which has a distinct structure that is different from your right testicle. While the fact that it has been present for several years and is not causing you pain is somewhat reassuring, it is still crucial to have it evaluated by a healthcare professional.

The presence of a firm structure on the testicle could potentially be a number of things, including a benign condition such as a spermatocele (a cyst that forms in the epididymis), a varicocele (enlarged veins in the scrotum), or even a more serious condition such as a tumor. The fact that it feels similar in hardness to the testicle itself and has been stable over time is a positive sign, but it does not eliminate the need for further investigation. It is highly recommended that you schedule an appointment with a urologist, who can perform a physical examination and possibly an ultrasound to determine the nature of this structure.

Regarding your question about ejaculation distance, there is a wide range of normal when it comes to this aspect of sexual function. Factors such as arousal level, individual anatomy, and even technique can influence the distance of ejaculation. While some individuals may achieve a notable distance, others may experience a more fluid-like release. The important thing to remember is that variations in ejaculation are common and can be influenced by many factors, including hydration levels, sexual arousal, and overall health. If you are concerned about the volume or consistency of your ejaculate, it may be worth discussing this with a healthcare provider as well.

In summary, while the absence of pain and the long-standing nature of the testicular change may be reassuring, it is crucial to seek medical advice to rule out any serious conditions. A urologist will be able to provide you with a thorough evaluation and appropriate recommendations based on their findings. Additionally, regarding ejaculation, remember that variations are normal, and if you have concerns, discussing them with a healthcare professional can provide clarity and peace of mind. Taking these steps will help ensure that you maintain your reproductive health and address any concerns you may have.
