Erection and ejaculation?
Hello, doctor.
I've been experiencing some issues lately.
A while ago, I visited a doctor for prostatitis and took antibiotics for three weeks, which resolved the problem.
However, recently I've noticed a decrease in my morning erections (this has been happening for about a month; I used to have them daily), and sometimes I have difficulty achieving an erection (though it's been a bit better this past week).
I can still achieve an erection when masturbating with my hand (without watching adult films), and it feels quite firm, with an angle exceeding 90 degrees, and there is resistance when I try to push it down.
However, the situation seems to fluctuate.
On average, I masturbate 4 to 10 times a month.
Today, I noticed that the force of ejaculation seems weaker, and the semen is less viscous (compared to before), with a reduced volume.
Additionally, urination has not been very smooth this week.
Could you please help me understand what might be going on? Should I see a doctor, or am I just overthinking this? Thank you very much.

It sounds like there is no issue.
However, if after a period of rest the erectile dysfunction does not improve or worsens, then it would be necessary to consult a urologist for further examination and discussion with the physician.

More Info
It sounds like you're experiencing a range of symptoms related to erectile function and ejaculation following a recent episode of prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate). Let's break down your concerns and provide some insights based on medical knowledge.
Changes in Erection and Ejaculation
1. Erection Changes: It's not uncommon for men to experience fluctuations in erectile function after a bout of prostatitis. The inflammation can affect blood flow and nerve function, which are crucial for achieving and maintaining an erection. The fact that you are still able to achieve an erection during masturbation suggests that your erectile function is not severely compromised, but it may be influenced by psychological factors or residual effects of the inflammation.
2. Morning Erections: The decrease in morning erections (morning wood) can be attributed to several factors, including hormonal changes, psychological stress, or the lingering effects of the prostatitis. Morning erections are often a sign of healthy blood flow and nerve function, so a decrease can be concerning but is not uncommon after prostate issues.
3. Ejaculation Changes: The changes you've noticed in ejaculation—specifically, the decrease in force, volume, and consistency—can also be linked to your recent prostate issues. The prostate plays a significant role in the production of seminal fluid, and inflammation can affect its function. It's worth noting that these changes can also be temporary and may improve as your body fully recovers from the prostatitis.
4. Urinary Symptoms: The urinary issues you're experiencing, such as difficulty urinating, can be related to prostate inflammation. Prostatitis can lead to swelling that compresses the urethra, making urination uncomfortable or less efficient. This symptom may also resolve as the inflammation decreases.
When to Seek Medical Attention
While some fluctuations in erectile function and ejaculation can be normal, especially after a medical issue like prostatitis, it's essential to monitor your symptoms. Here are some indicators that you should consider seeing a healthcare provider:
- Persistent Symptoms: If your erectile dysfunction or changes in ejaculation persist for more than a few weeks, it would be wise to consult a urologist. They can perform a thorough evaluation to rule out any underlying conditions.
- Severe Urinary Symptoms: If you experience significant difficulty urinating, pain, or blood in your urine, seek medical attention promptly.
- Psychological Impact: If these changes are causing you significant distress or affecting your quality of life, talking to a healthcare professional can provide reassurance and potential treatment options.
Conclusion
In summary, the changes you're experiencing in erection and ejaculation following your prostatitis treatment could be temporary and related to the inflammation of the prostate. However, if these symptoms persist or worsen, it is advisable to seek medical advice. A healthcare provider can help determine if there are any underlying issues that need to be addressed and can offer treatment options to help restore your sexual health. Remember, open communication with your healthcare provider is key to addressing any concerns you may have.
