Glans issues
Hello Doctor: Last night, after masturbating, I cleaned and dried myself thoroughly before going to bed.
This morning, I noticed a small red spot on the glans when I went to the bathroom.
It doesn't hurt or itch.
After about an hour, I checked again, and the red spot had gradually faded away, with no itching or pain during that time.
I continued to monitor the area when using the bathroom, but I'm unsure if the color seems darker in that area because I know there was a red spot there.
A month or two ago, I experienced a similar situation in the same area, but at that time, I applied a cream prescribed by a urologist for a fungal infection, and it resolved after a while.
Could you please explain what might be causing this condition? Do I need to see a doctor?

Hello: If it occurs multiple times or persists without improvement, you should seek medical attention.
If it is temporary and there are no other abnormalities, you may observe it for now.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
When it comes to red spots on the glans (the head of the penis), it is important to approach the situation with caution and awareness of potential underlying causes. Based on your description, the red spot appeared after masturbation, was not painful or itchy, and resolved on its own within a few hours. This transient nature of the spot is a positive sign, but it does raise some questions about its origin.
There are several potential causes for red spots on the glans, including:
1. Irritation or Friction: Masturbation can sometimes lead to minor irritation or friction, especially if there is not enough lubrication. This can result in temporary redness or spots that resolve quickly.
2. Allergic Reaction: If you used any products (such as soaps, lotions, or lubricants) during or after masturbation, an allergic reaction could cause redness. If the irritation persists or recurs, consider whether any products might be the culprit.
3. Infection: While you mentioned that the spot was not painful or itchy, infections (such as fungal or bacterial infections) can sometimes present with redness without significant discomfort. Given that you previously used a cream for a fungal infection, it may be worth considering whether a similar issue could be recurring.
4. Dermatological Conditions: Conditions such as balanitis (inflammation of the glans) or other dermatological issues can also cause redness. These conditions may not always present with pain or itching, especially in their early stages.
5. Vascular Changes: Sometimes, changes in blood flow or vascularity can cause temporary redness, particularly after physical activity or stimulation.
Given that the red spot resolved quickly and did not cause discomfort, it may not be a cause for immediate concern. However, it is essential to monitor the situation. If you notice any of the following, it would be wise to seek medical advice:
- The red spot returns frequently or persists for an extended period.
- You develop additional symptoms such as pain, itching, swelling, or discharge.
- You notice any changes in the texture or appearance of the skin on the glans.
- You have concerns about sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or other health issues.
In general, if you have any doubts or if the situation changes, it is always best to consult a healthcare professional. A urologist or dermatologist can provide a thorough examination and appropriate treatment if necessary. They can also help rule out any serious conditions and provide peace of mind.
In conclusion, while the transient nature of the red spot is reassuring, it is essential to remain vigilant and proactive about your health. If you experience any concerning symptoms or if the issue recurs, do not hesitate to seek medical advice. Your health and well-being should always be a priority.
