Persistent skin itching?
I have a lot of red, itchy bumps on my buttocks, lower chest, and abdomen.
I have tried two different ointments, but they haven't helped.
Since I am currently in the U.S.
and have limited access to healthcare, I consulted a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner who suggested that I have a fungal infection.
They recommended using suppositories and spraying medication on the affected areas, but I don't feel any improvement.
I kindly ask for your help in understanding the possible causes of my condition, but I don't know how to send photos.

Hello: Based solely on the textual description, it is not possible to accurately diagnose a skin condition.
If there are no cybersecurity concerns, you may consider uploading photos of the lesions to a cloud album for reference.
However, if the skin condition does not improve or worsens, it is advisable to consult a nearby dermatologist for diagnosis and treatment.
Thank you!

Persistent itching and skin issues can be quite distressing, and it’s important to understand the potential causes and treatment options available. Based on your description, it seems you are experiencing a rash that is red and itchy, particularly in the areas around your buttocks, chest, and abdomen. You mentioned that you have tried two different ointments without improvement and have consulted a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner who suggested a fungal infection and recommended treatments that have not yielded results.
Firstly, it’s essential to recognize that persistent itching and rashes can arise from various causes, including allergic reactions, irritant contact dermatitis, fungal infections, bacterial infections, or even conditions like eczema or psoriasis. Given that you have been experiencing this issue for some time and have not found relief with topical treatments, it may be beneficial to consider a few key points:
1. Fungal Infections: Fungal infections, such as tinea (ringworm), can cause red, itchy rashes in warm, moist areas of the body. These infections often require antifungal treatments, which may not be effective if the wrong type of medication is used. If you suspect a fungal infection, over-the-counter antifungal creams or prescription medications from a healthcare provider may be necessary.
2. Contact Dermatitis: This condition occurs when the skin reacts to a substance it has come into contact with, leading to redness, itching, and sometimes blistering. Identifying and avoiding the irritant or allergen is crucial for treatment. Common culprits include soaps, detergents, and certain fabrics.
3. Eczema or Psoriasis: Both conditions can cause persistent itching and red patches on the skin. Eczema is often associated with dry skin and can be triggered by environmental factors, while psoriasis is an autoimmune condition that leads to rapid skin cell turnover. Treatment for these conditions may include topical corticosteroids, moisturizers, and in some cases, systemic medications.
4. Systemic Issues: Sometimes, persistent skin issues can be a sign of an underlying systemic condition, such as allergies, hormonal changes, or even stress. It may be worth discussing your symptoms with a healthcare provider who can evaluate your overall health and consider any potential systemic causes.
5. Consultation with a Dermatologist: Given the persistence of your symptoms and the lack of improvement with current treatments, it may be beneficial to seek a consultation with a dermatologist. A dermatologist can provide a thorough examination, possibly perform skin tests, and recommend appropriate treatments based on a definitive diagnosis.
6. Home Care: In the meantime, consider implementing a gentle skincare routine. Use mild, fragrance-free cleansers and moisturizers to avoid further irritation. Avoid hot showers and harsh soaps, as these can exacerbate dryness and irritation. Keeping the affected areas clean and dry is also important.
7. Avoid Scratching: While it may be tempting to scratch the itchy areas, doing so can lead to further irritation and potential infection. Keeping nails trimmed and wearing loose-fitting clothing can help minimize irritation.
In summary, persistent itching and skin issues can stem from various causes, and effective treatment often requires a proper diagnosis. If your symptoms continue to persist despite trying different treatments, I strongly recommend seeking further evaluation from a healthcare professional, preferably a dermatologist, who can provide tailored advice and treatment options.
