I would like to ask what symptoms are associated with the throat?
I have hyperthyroidism, but my test results are all normal.
Recently, my heart rate reached a maximum of 160 beats per minute, making it impossible for me to walk.
Currently, I am being treated with medication for hyperthyroidism, which has stabilized my heart rate.
Without the medication, my heart rate spikes again, and I feel faint after just a short walk.
Recently, I've had a slight cold without a fever, and I just checked my throat, which startled me a bit.
I would like to inquire about what symptoms I might be experiencing and why there are slightly raised areas in the back of my throat where it connects to my nasal cavity.
Could this be related to COVID-19, or is it normal? I have taken photos, but it seems I cannot upload them here.

Hello! The protruding area is likely lymphoid tissue, but it cannot specify the type of infection.
If you are at risk, it is recommended that you follow the regulations and guidelines of your local health authorities for screening.

When dealing with throat symptoms, especially in the context of thyroid issues and concerns about COVID-19, it is essential to consider a variety of factors. Your history of hyperthyroidism, current symptoms, and recent health changes all contribute to the complexity of your situation.
Firstly, hyperthyroidism can lead to a range of symptoms, including increased heart rate (tachycardia), anxiety, and even throat discomfort. The fact that you have experienced a heart rate of 160 beats per minute is concerning and indicates that your thyroid condition may not be fully controlled, despite your current medication. It’s crucial to work closely with your healthcare provider to ensure that your thyroid hormone levels are adequately managed. Uncontrolled hyperthyroidism can lead to serious complications, including heart problems.
Regarding your throat symptoms, the presence of bumps or irregularities in the throat can be alarming, especially when you have a history of thyroid issues. These bumps could be due to several reasons, including inflammation, infection, or even benign conditions like post-nasal drip or allergies. Given that you mentioned having a mild cold recently, it is possible that your throat symptoms are related to this upper respiratory infection. Viral infections, including those caused by COVID-19, can lead to throat irritation and swelling. However, without additional symptoms such as fever, significant cough, or loss of taste/smell, it may not necessarily indicate a COVID-19 infection.
It is also important to note that individuals with underlying health conditions, such as hyperthyroidism, may experience heightened anxiety regarding potential infections, particularly during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This anxiety can exacerbate physical symptoms, leading to a cycle of worry and discomfort. Therefore, managing your mental health is just as important as addressing your physical symptoms.
If you are concerned about the appearance of your throat or if you experience worsening symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, persistent pain, or fever, it is advisable to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a thorough examination and may recommend tests such as a throat swab or imaging studies if necessary.
In summary, while your throat symptoms could be related to a recent cold or allergies, it is essential to monitor your thyroid condition closely and maintain open communication with your healthcare provider. Regular follow-ups and adjustments to your treatment plan may be necessary to ensure that both your thyroid function and overall health are optimized. If anxiety about your health is impacting your quality of life, consider discussing this with your doctor, who may recommend counseling or other supportive measures.
