Testicular issues

Hello, doctor.
I previously asked questions related to the testicles (#169661) (#169668).
Today, while showering, I noticed that there seems to be something below both testicles, and it hurts when I press on it.
What could be the cause of this? Am I at risk for testicular cancer or varicocele? What are the symptoms of these two conditions? Additionally, could you please tell me what the symptoms of excessive masturbation are? I'm worried that doing it once a day might be too much...
(Thank you, doctor.)

D, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2021/06/30

Hello: The frequency of masturbation can vary from person to person, and if it affects daily life or learning, such as causing difficulty in concentration or increased fatigue, it may not be advisable.
Today, while showering, I noticed something below both testicles that seems to be causing pain when pressed.
What could be the reason for this? This platform cannot provide a diagnosis; it is recommended to seek medical attention to check for testicular cancer.
However, it is more likely to be unilateral varicocele, which can change in size.
Wishing you good health.

When it comes to testicular issues, it's important to recognize that any new pain or unusual findings in the testicular area should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. The discovery of a lump or painful area beneath the testicles can be concerning, and while it may not necessarily indicate a serious condition, it is crucial to understand the potential causes and symptoms associated with various testicular disorders.

One common condition that could cause pain and swelling in the testicular area is epididymitis, which is an inflammation of the epididymis, the tube that stores and carries sperm. This condition can result from infections, including sexually transmitted infections, and is often accompanied by symptoms such as swelling, redness, and tenderness in the affected area.

Another possibility is testicular torsion, a medical emergency where the spermatic cord becomes twisted, cutting off blood supply to the testicle. This condition typically presents with sudden, severe pain in one testicle, swelling, and nausea. Immediate medical attention is necessary to prevent permanent damage.

Varicocele, which is an enlargement of the veins within the scrotum, can also cause discomfort and is often described as feeling like a "bag of worms." It may lead to a dull ache and is more common on the left side. While varicocele is not directly linked to testicular cancer, it can affect fertility.

Testicular cancer, although less common, can present with a painless lump or swelling in the testicle. Other symptoms may include a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum, changes in the size or shape of the testicle, and discomfort in the lower abdomen or back. It's important to note that most testicular lumps are not cancerous, but any persistent changes should be evaluated by a doctor.

Regarding your concern about excessive masturbation, it's important to understand that masturbation is a normal sexual activity. However, if it becomes compulsive or interferes with daily life, it may lead to physical discomfort or emotional distress. Symptoms of excessive masturbation can include soreness or irritation of the genital area, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating on tasks. If you find that your habits are causing you concern or affecting your quality of life, it may be beneficial to speak with a healthcare provider or a mental health professional.

In summary, if you are experiencing pain or have discovered a lump in your testicular area, it is essential to seek medical evaluation. A healthcare professional can perform a physical examination, possibly order imaging studies, and provide a diagnosis based on your symptoms. Early detection and treatment of any testicular issues are crucial for maintaining reproductive health and overall well-being. Remember, it is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to your health.
