Sensitivity in the Glans and the Impact of Circumcision - Urology

Regarding circumcision?

We all know that the glans is the most sensitive part of the penis, but my glans is not very sensitive.
Instead, the area below the glans, the foreskin, is the most pleasurable, followed by the corpora cavernosa.
Additionally, pressing on the perineum increases my sexual arousal.
I would like to ask the doctor if there is a problem with my glans being less sensitive.
Also, since the foreskin has a high concentration of nerve endings and is a major source of pleasure, why do some people choose to undergo circumcision, which would result in a significant loss of sexual pleasure?

The sensitivity of the glans penis (the head of the penis) is a topic of considerable interest and can vary significantly among individuals. The glans is indeed one of the most sensitive areas of the male anatomy due to the high concentration of nerve endings, particularly the Meissner's corpuscles, which are responsible for sensitivity to light touch. However, it is not uncommon for some individuals to experience reduced sensitivity in the glans, while other areas, such as the foreskin (if present), may feel more pleasurable.

There are several factors that can contribute to the perceived sensitivity of the glans and surrounding areas. One possibility is the presence of a condition known as "keratinization," where the skin on the glans becomes thicker and less sensitive due to friction or lack of exposure. This can occur in individuals who are circumcised or who have not had regular exposure of the glans, leading to a decrease in sensitivity over time. In contrast, the foreskin is rich in nerve endings and can provide a different type of stimulation, which may explain why you find the area below the glans to be more pleasurable.

Regarding circumcision, it is a procedure that involves the removal of the foreskin, which can indeed alter sensitivity. Some studies suggest that circumcision may lead to a decrease in sensitivity of the glans due to exposure and keratinization, while others indicate that it can enhance sexual pleasure for some individuals due to changes in stimulation patterns. The decision to undergo circumcision is often influenced by cultural, religious, or medical reasons, and it is essential to consider the potential impacts on sexual function and pleasure.

It's also worth noting that sexual arousal and pleasure are complex phenomena influenced by psychological, emotional, and physical factors. The increase in sexual desire when pressing on the perineum (the area between the scrotum and anus) is a common experience, as this area is rich in nerve endings and can stimulate the pelvic nerves, enhancing sexual arousal.

If you are concerned about the sensitivity of your glans or any changes in your sexual function, it may be beneficial to consult with a healthcare provider or a urologist. They can assess your individual situation, provide guidance, and discuss any underlying medical conditions that may be affecting sensitivity. Additionally, they can offer insights into the implications of circumcision and help you make an informed decision if you are considering this procedure.

In summary, variations in sensitivity among different areas of the penis are normal and can be influenced by several factors, including anatomical differences, circumcision status, and individual experiences. Understanding these factors can help you navigate your concerns and enhance your sexual health and pleasure.
