Menstrual period delayed by three days?

I had my last menstrual period from June 11 to June 15.
I took a pregnancy test on July 4, which showed one line.
On July 7, I had some intimate contact with my girlfriend, and we both washed our hands before and after.
However, I think there was one instance where I might not have washed my hands thoroughly, but I noticed it immediately and went to wash my hands again.
My period was expected to start on July 11 according to my period tracking app, but it didn't come until July 14.
Now, I am three days late.
What is the likelihood of pregnancy?

The chances are likely low, but if you're concerned, you can take a urine test to find out.

A 3-day delay in your menstrual cycle can indeed be a sign of pregnancy, but it is not definitive on its own. Menstrual cycles can be influenced by a variety of factors, including stress, hormonal changes, illness, and lifestyle factors, which can sometimes lead to a delay. However, if you have had unprotected sexual intercourse, even if it was brief and you took precautions afterward, there is still a possibility of pregnancy.

In your case, since your last menstrual period started on June 11 and ended on June 15, and you had a pregnancy test on July 4 that showed one line (negative), it suggests that you were not pregnant at that time. However, the fact that your period was due on July 11 and is now delayed by three days could indicate a potential pregnancy, especially if you had unprotected intercourse around your ovulation period.

To clarify, sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for up to five days, so if you had intercourse close to your ovulation window, there is a chance that sperm could fertilize an egg, leading to pregnancy. If you are concerned about the possibility of pregnancy, it is advisable to take a home pregnancy test. For the most accurate results, it is best to wait until at least the first day of your missed period to test, as this allows for the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) to build up in your urine if you are pregnant.

If you continue to experience a delay in your period and the pregnancy test is positive, it is important to schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider for further evaluation and to confirm the pregnancy through a blood test or ultrasound. If the test is negative and your period does not start soon, it may be worth discussing with your doctor, as they can help determine if there are underlying issues affecting your menstrual cycle.

In summary, while a 3-day delay in your menstrual cycle can be a sign of pregnancy, it is not conclusive. Given your recent sexual activity and the timing of your menstrual cycle, it is advisable to take a pregnancy test and consult with a healthcare professional for further guidance.
