Redness on the glans?

Doctor, I have encountered a situation with redness that is not fixed in one location.
The day before yesterday, I noticed a small red spot on the side of the glans, and the next day it spread to the area around the meatus.
Yesterday, I felt some sensitivity while washing, and this morning the foreskin was also red, but it returned to normal after I got home from work.
Recently, I've been feeling anxious, and I've masturbated a few times, but I also make sure to clean thoroughly every day.
This has happened about three or four times, and I feel like I need to learn to relax to avoid this.
(I also plan to be gentler while cleaning, thanks to the doctor's advice last time.) Previously, I discussed this with my dad, and he said it was nothing to worry about, but after a week, I still went to see a doctor because I was quite concerned.
At that time, the doctor mostly observed a lot of smegma, but fortunately, I now know how to manage that issue, so it's no longer a problem for me.

Hello: Redness may be due to damp-heat or tight clothing.
If it does not persist, just pay attention to daily habits.
Wishing you good health.

More Info

Understanding redness on the glans (the head of the penis) can be concerning, especially when it appears intermittently and is accompanied by sensitivity. Based on your description, there are several potential causes for the redness you are experiencing, and it’s important to consider both physical and psychological factors.

Possible Causes of Redness on the Glans
1. Irritation or Inflammation: The most common cause of redness in this area is irritation, which can result from friction during masturbation, improper cleaning, or even the use of harsh soaps or detergents. If you are cleaning the area too vigorously, it can lead to inflammation and redness.
2. Infection: Conditions such as balanitis (inflammation of the glans) can cause redness and sensitivity. This can be due to a yeast infection, bacterial infection, or sexually transmitted infections (STIs). If the redness is persistent and accompanied by discharge, pain, or a foul odor, it is advisable to seek medical attention.

3. Allergic Reaction: Sometimes, the use of certain products like lotions, lubricants, or condoms can cause an allergic reaction, leading to redness and irritation. If you have recently changed any products you use in this area, consider reverting to previous products to see if the symptoms improve.

4. Psychological Factors: Anxiety and stress can also manifest physically. You mentioned feeling anxious and that this has coincided with the episodes of redness. Stress can lead to increased sensitivity and may exacerbate any underlying irritation.

5. Hygiene Practices: You noted that you have been diligent about cleaning the area, which is good. However, ensure that you are using gentle methods and not over-cleaning, as this can strip the skin of its natural oils and lead to irritation.

Recommendations for Management
1. Gentle Cleaning: Continue to maintain good hygiene, but be gentle. Use mild, unscented soap and warm water. Avoid scrubbing the area too hard.

2. Moisturizing: If the skin appears dry or irritated, consider using a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to help soothe the area.

3. Avoid Irritants: Pay attention to any products that may be causing irritation. If you suspect a specific product, discontinue its use.

4. Stress Management: Since you mentioned anxiety, consider incorporating stress-relief techniques into your routine. This could include mindfulness, meditation, or light exercise, which can help reduce overall anxiety levels.

5. Monitor Symptoms: Keep track of when the redness occurs and any associated activities or products. If the redness persists or worsens, or if you develop additional symptoms (such as pain, swelling, or discharge), it’s important to consult a healthcare professional for a thorough evaluation.

6. Consult a Doctor: Since you have already seen a doctor in the past, it may be beneficial to return if the issue continues. A healthcare provider can perform a physical examination and may recommend tests to rule out infections or other conditions.

Conclusion
While occasional redness on the glans can be benign and related to irritation or hygiene practices, persistent or recurrent symptoms warrant further investigation. It’s essential to listen to your body and seek medical advice if you have concerns. Remember, maintaining a relaxed mindset and practicing gentle hygiene can significantly contribute to your overall comfort and health.
