Symptoms after infrared surgery for hemorrhoids?

I have undergone hemorrhoid surgery twice.
1.
During sitz baths, I can feel three lumps (I'm not sure if they are hemorrhoids), as the doctor has been avoiding my questions.
2.
After the treatment, there is a small flesh-like bump at the anal opening, but the doctor said it does not require treatment.
Is this okay? I would appreciate the doctor's response to my concerns.
Thank you.

It could be postoperative skin tags or residual external hemorrhoids; if there is no pain or bleeding, they can be disregarded.

Post-hemorrhoid surgery recovery can be a complex process, and it's not uncommon for patients to have lingering symptoms or concerns after the procedure. Based on your description, it seems you have several questions regarding your recovery and the symptoms you are experiencing.
Firstly, it’s important to understand that after hemorrhoid surgery, patients may experience various sensations and symptoms as part of the healing process. The presence of lumps or bumps around the anal area can be concerning, but they are not always indicative of a problem.
1. Feeling of Lumps During Sitz Baths: The three lumps you mentioned feeling during sitz baths could be a few different things. After surgery, it’s possible for residual tissue or swelling to create a sensation of lumps. These could be remnants of the hemorrhoids that were not fully removed, or they could be normal post-operative swelling. If the lumps are soft and not painful, they may simply be part of the healing process. However, if they are hard, painful, or changing in size, it’s essential to follow up with your doctor for a thorough examination.
2. Small Flesh-colored Bump: The small flesh-colored bump at the anal opening that your doctor mentioned does not require treatment could be a skin tag, which is a common occurrence after hemorrhoid surgery. Skin tags can form as a result of the surgery or from the original hemorrhoids. They are generally benign and do not require treatment unless they become symptomatic (e.g., causing pain or discomfort). If your doctor has assessed it and deemed it non-problematic, it is likely okay, but you should continue to monitor it for any changes.

3. Communication with Your Doctor: It’s crucial to maintain open communication with your healthcare provider. If you feel that your concerns are being overlooked or if your questions are not being adequately addressed, consider seeking a second opinion. A different physician may provide additional insights or reassurance regarding your symptoms.
4. Post-operative Care: After hemorrhoid surgery, it’s vital to follow post-operative care instructions closely. This includes maintaining a high-fiber diet, staying hydrated, and using stool softeners if necessary to avoid straining during bowel movements. Sitz baths can be beneficial for comfort and to promote healing, but ensure that you are not overdoing it, as excessive soaking can sometimes lead to irritation.

5. When to Seek Help: If you experience any of the following symptoms, you should contact your healthcare provider immediately:
- Increased pain or discomfort that does not improve with over-the-counter pain relief.

- Signs of infection, such as fever, increased swelling, redness, or discharge from the surgical site.

- Changes in bowel habits, such as severe constipation or diarrhea.

- Any new or worsening symptoms that concern you.

In summary, while some post-operative symptoms can be normal, it is essential to stay vigilant and proactive about your health. If you have ongoing concerns about the lumps or any other symptoms, do not hesitate to seek further evaluation from your healthcare provider. Your comfort and peace of mind are important aspects of your recovery process.
