Probability of Pregnancy
Hello, my menstrual cycle is about 28 days.
I had unprotected sexual intercourse around noon on August 13, but there was no penetration and no ejaculation; it was just a brief contact at the vaginal opening, and my hymen is still intact.
I did not take emergency contraception afterward.
That evening, my period started (the color and amount were similar to previous cycles), but it has now lasted for 12 days without stopping.
Recently, I have noticed some pink discharge (not much).
Can I rule out pregnancy? If not, what is the likelihood of pregnancy: high, low, or very low? Thank you, doctor.

Hello, you should not be pregnant.
If the bleeding does not stop, it is advisable to see a gynecologist.
Wishing you good health.

More Info
When it comes to understanding the chances of pregnancy after unprotected intercourse, several factors must be considered. In your case, you mentioned having unprotected sexual intercourse on August 13, followed by the onset of your menstrual period that same evening. This is a crucial detail because the timing of your menstrual cycle plays a significant role in determining the likelihood of pregnancy.
Typically, a menstrual cycle lasts about 28 days, with ovulation occurring approximately 14 days before the start of your next period. If your cycle is regular, having intercourse just before or during ovulation increases the chances of conception. However, since you reported that your period started on the same day as the intercourse, it is highly unlikely that you are pregnant. Menstrual bleeding usually indicates that the uterine lining is shedding, which occurs when there is no fertilization of an egg.
The fact that your menstrual bleeding has lasted for 12 days is somewhat unusual, as most menstrual periods last between 3 to 7 days. The presence of pinkish blood towards the end of your period could be attributed to several factors, including hormonal fluctuations, the normal variation in menstrual flow, or even the onset of a new cycle. It is not uncommon for women to experience changes in their menstrual cycle due to stress, changes in weight, or other health factors.
To address your concerns about the possibility of pregnancy, the chances are extremely low given the circumstances you've described. The absence of ejaculation and the timing of your menstrual cycle further reduce the likelihood of conception. However, if you continue to experience unusual bleeding or if your menstrual cycle does not return to normal, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional. They can perform a pregnancy test and evaluate your symptoms to rule out any other potential issues.
In summary, based on the information provided, the likelihood of pregnancy is very low. The onset of your menstrual period on the same day as the intercourse is a strong indicator that you are not pregnant. However, if you have any lingering concerns or if your menstrual cycle continues to be irregular, seeking medical advice is always a prudent step.
