Swelling at the tip of the glans?

Last Wednesday, I had unprotected sexual intercourse, but ejaculation was with a condom.
Since last Sunday, the tip of my glans has been red and swollen, and it hurts when I urinate in the morning.
Could this be glans inflammation, or is it because I'm not drinking enough water?

The symptoms you're describing, specifically the redness and swelling at the tip of the penis, along with pain during urination, could indeed indicate a condition known as balanitis, which is an inflammation of the glans (the head of the penis). Balanitis can be caused by a variety of factors, including infections (bacterial, fungal, or viral), irritants (such as soaps or lotions), or even allergic reactions.
In your case, since you mentioned having unprotected sexual intercourse, it's important to consider the possibility of a sexually transmitted infection (STI) as a potential cause of your symptoms. Some STIs can lead to inflammation and irritation of the genital area, resulting in symptoms similar to what you're experiencing. Common STIs that can cause such symptoms include herpes, gonorrhea, and chlamydia.
Another factor to consider is your hydration levels. Dehydration can lead to concentrated urine, which may irritate the urethra and cause discomfort during urination. However, given the redness and swelling, it seems more likely that there is an underlying inflammatory process at play rather than dehydration alone.

To address your concerns, here are some steps you can take:
1. Seek Medical Attention: It is crucial to consult a healthcare provider for a proper evaluation. They may perform a physical examination and possibly recommend tests, such as a urine test or swabs, to identify any infections.

2. Avoid Irritants: Until you see a doctor, try to avoid any potential irritants. This includes avoiding scented soaps, lotions, or any products that may come into contact with the genital area.

3. Maintain Hygiene: Keep the area clean and dry. Gentle washing with mild soap and water can help, but avoid scrubbing the area too harshly.

4. Stay Hydrated: Ensure you are drinking enough water to help dilute your urine, which may alleviate some irritation during urination.

5. Monitor Symptoms: Keep track of any changes in your symptoms, such as increased redness, swelling, or the development of discharge. This information can be helpful for your healthcare provider.

6. Avoid Sexual Activity: Until you have been evaluated and treated, it may be wise to abstain from sexual activity to prevent further irritation and to avoid potentially transmitting an infection.

In summary, while your symptoms could be related to balanitis or another inflammatory condition, it is essential to seek medical advice for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Early intervention can help prevent complications and ensure a swift recovery.
