Is there still a way to grow taller?
I got my period when I was in fifth grade, almost sixth grade, and I didn't grow significantly taller in the years leading up to that.
My dad is 165 cm and my mom is 153 cm.
I would like to know if I still have a chance to grow taller in the future, or if I could reach 155 cm? (Right now, in sixth grade, I am only 135.6 cm tall, and my classmates are all at least 140 cm.)

At the age of 12, girls typically have not yet closed their growth plates, which means they can continue to grow taller.
With a balanced diet and regular exercise, there is a possibility for further height increase.

The question of whether you can still grow taller after starting your period is a common concern among young girls. Generally, the onset of menstruation indicates that a girl has entered puberty, which is a critical period for growth. However, the growth potential varies from person to person and is influenced by several factors, including genetics, nutrition, and overall health.
Typically, girls experience their most significant growth spurts during the early stages of puberty, which can begin anywhere from ages 9 to 14. After the onset of menstruation, girls usually continue to grow for a few more years, but the rate of growth tends to slow down significantly. Most girls will reach their adult height by the age of 16 to 18, as the growth plates in the bones close after puberty.
In your case, since you mentioned that you are currently in sixth grade and have just started your period, you may still have some growth potential left. The average height for girls at your age can vary widely, and while you might feel shorter than your peers now, it’s essential to remember that growth patterns can differ significantly among individuals. Some girls may experience a late growth spurt, while others may grow steadily over a more extended period.
Genetics plays a crucial role in determining your final height. Since your father is 165 cm and your mother is 153 cm, your potential height can be estimated using various formulas that take parental heights into account. However, these are just estimates, and many factors can influence your actual height.
Nutrition is another critical factor in growth. A balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins is essential for supporting your growth during puberty. Foods high in calcium (like dairy products), vitamin D (found in fish and fortified foods), and protein (such as meat, beans, and nuts) can help promote bone health and growth. Regular physical activity, including exercises that promote strength and flexibility, can also support healthy growth.
Regarding your specific question about reaching a height of 155 cm, it is indeed possible, especially if your growth plates have not yet closed. If you maintain a healthy lifestyle, including proper nutrition and regular exercise, you may still have the opportunity to grow taller.
Lastly, it’s important to remember that height does not define your worth or abilities. Many successful individuals come in all shapes and sizes, and confidence and self-esteem are built on much more than physical appearance. If you have concerns about your growth or development, consider discussing them with a healthcare provider who can provide personalized advice and support.
In summary, while you may still have the potential to grow taller after starting your period, it is essential to focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and understanding that growth patterns can vary widely among individuals. Keep in mind that your height is just one aspect of who you are, and embracing your unique qualities is what truly matters.
