Management of Symptoms of Acute Vaginitis
Hello, Director.
I have been diagnosed with a Candida infection, and I am currently on my third day of using suppositories.
However, yesterday (the second day), the itching sensation became extremely severe, even more intense than in the previous days, to the point where I could hardly walk.
I couldn't wait for a follow-up appointment to seek help from my doctor.
Yesterday, the doctor administered a strong injection, which provided significant relief, and also changed my oral medication and ointment.
However, the doctor mentioned that this ointment should only be applied once a day.
Just now at work, I started feeling very uncomfortable again with the itching sensation returning, but the doctor instructed me to apply it only once.
After rinsing with cool water in the staff bathroom, I still applied the ointment a second time.
Although I don't understand why the doctor limited me to once, the itching is unbearable.
I can only follow the doctor's advice and refrain from applying it more frequently.
I would like to ask the director how I can relieve the itching sensation.
Can I go to a chain pharmacy to buy any oral medications or ointments (that I can use immediately for relief)? Otherwise, I can't keep taking leave from work to see the doctor, but I also can't apply the ointment more than once.
The itching is really distressing!
For the first medication usage over two days: "Xinghui" Lico Pain Tablets, "Cifuxin" Capsules, Hydrophilic Ointment, "Veterans" Clotrimazole Vaginal 100 mg (Clotrimazole), "Miconazole" Vaginal Tablets 100 mg (Miconazole).
For the second medication usage over one day: Spasmolytic Tablets 40 mg, "Shouyuan" Gentamicin Injection 40 mg/mL (Gentamicin), Hongmei Ointment 0.1%.
Since the doctor mentioned that my urine also showed signs of inflammation during the second visit, I was referred to a urologist who reviewed my medications.
Currently, I am using the following: "Zanbang" Meloxicam Granules, "Lujijing" Coated Tablets 100 mg, Spasmolytic Tablets 40 mg, Hongmei Ointment 0.1%, and Miconazole Vaginal Tablets 100 mg.
Please, Director, could you take a moment to review the medications I am currently using and suggest any additional oral medications or ointments that I can use to alleviate my itching? Ideally, I would like to be able to purchase them at a pharmacy.
Thank you!

Hello, based on your symptom description, it is more likely that you are experiencing contact dermatitis or folliculitis.
It is recommended to maintain a light diet, have a regular daily routine, and keep the perineal area clean and dry.
Avoid wearing tight clothing.
You may soak in a bath to relieve symptoms.
If symptoms persist, please consult a physician for diagnosis and treatment.
Thank you! (A physician cannot provide treatment, prescribe medication, or issue a diagnosis without a personal examination.) Wishing you peace and health, Dr.
Zhang.

Managing severe itching from vaginal candidiasis can be quite challenging, especially when the discomfort interferes with daily activities. It’s important to understand that while over-the-counter (OTC) treatments can provide relief, they should be used cautiously and ideally under the guidance of a healthcare provider.
Firstly, it’s crucial to recognize that vaginal candidiasis, commonly known as a yeast infection, is typically caused by an overgrowth of the fungus Candida. Symptoms often include intense itching, burning, and discomfort, which can be exacerbated by certain factors such as hormonal changes, antibiotic use, and even stress. The treatment regimen you are currently following, which includes antifungal medications and topical treatments, is standard for managing this condition.
Given that you are experiencing severe itching despite treatment, here are some strategies to help alleviate your symptoms:
1. Follow Your Doctor's Instructions: It’s essential to adhere to the treatment plan prescribed by your healthcare provider. If your doctor has advised using the topical ointment only once a day, it’s likely to prevent potential irritation or adverse reactions from overuse. If the itching persists, it’s best to consult your doctor rather than self-medicating.
2. Cool Compresses: Applying a cool, damp cloth to the affected area can provide immediate relief from itching. This can help soothe the skin and reduce inflammation.
3. Avoid Irritants: Stay away from scented soaps, bubble baths, and feminine hygiene sprays, as these can irritate the vaginal area and worsen itching. Opt for mild, unscented products instead.
4. Loose Clothing: Wear breathable, loose-fitting cotton underwear and clothing to help keep the area dry and reduce friction, which can exacerbate itching.
5. Dietary Considerations: Some studies suggest that reducing sugar intake may help manage yeast infections, as sugar can promote the growth of Candida. Incorporating probiotics, such as yogurt with live cultures, may also support a healthy vaginal flora.
6. Over-the-Counter Options: While you should be cautious about using additional medications without consulting your doctor, some OTC antifungal creams are available. However, these should not replace your prescribed treatment. Always check with your healthcare provider before adding any new medications.
7. Hydration and Hygiene: Ensure you are drinking plenty of water and maintaining good hygiene. After using the restroom, wipe from front to back to prevent the spread of bacteria.
8. Stress Management: Stress can impact your immune system and may contribute to yeast infections. Consider incorporating stress-reducing activities such as yoga, meditation, or gentle exercise into your routine.
9. Follow-Up with Your Doctor: If the itching persists or worsens, it’s crucial to return to your healthcare provider. They may need to reassess your treatment plan or check for other underlying conditions that could be contributing to your symptoms.
In summary, while managing severe itching from vaginal candidiasis can be frustrating, it’s important to follow your prescribed treatment plan and consult your healthcare provider for any persistent symptoms. Implementing supportive measures such as cool compresses, avoiding irritants, and maintaining good hygiene can help alleviate discomfort. Always prioritize communication with your healthcare provider to ensure you receive the most appropriate care for your condition.
