Pimples around the penis?
Hello, Doctor.
1.
I would like to inquire about a situation I noticed in the first three to four months.
I found one or two pimples around the pubic hair area, but I didn't think much of it.
I squeezed them and was able to extract some white substance.
After squeezing, it seemed fine, but over the past month or two, they have continued to increase.
Some of them appeared to heal but left dark scars, and now there is a larger one that I feel cannot be squeezed.
Initially, this one was painless and itch-free, but now it causes slight pain when pressed.
2.
The foreskin covers the glans, and when I pull it down, I notice three small white bumps clustered together.
They are also painless and itch-free.
I would like to ask the doctor what these two conditions might indicate in terms of possible diseases.
Note: My girlfriend and I engage in sexual activity at least twice a week, so I clean myself frequently.

Without actually seeing the lesion, it is impossible to determine the issue.
If it is causing significant distress, please seek medical attention as soon as possible.
A proper examination is necessary to identify the problem and determine the appropriate treatment.

When it comes to the appearance of pimples or bumps around the penis and pubic area, there are several potential causes that can be considered. It's important to understand that while some conditions may be benign, others could indicate an underlying issue that requires medical attention. Here’s a breakdown of the possible causes and concerns related to your symptoms.
1. Folliculitis: This is an inflammation of the hair follicles, often caused by bacterial or fungal infections. It can present as small red or white bumps around the hair follicles, which may be itchy or painful. If you have been squeezing these bumps, it could exacerbate the condition or lead to secondary infections.
2. Pearly Penile Papules: These are small, harmless bumps that can appear around the corona of the glans (the head of the penis). They are normal anatomical variations and do not require treatment unless they cause discomfort or concern.
3. Fordyce Spots: These are small, painless, pale bumps that can appear on the shaft of the penis. They are sebaceous glands that are visible due to their location and are completely benign.
4. Genital Warts: Caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), these can appear as small, flesh-colored or gray bumps. They may be raised or flat and can sometimes be itchy or uncomfortable. If you suspect this, it’s important to consult a healthcare provider for evaluation and possible treatment.
5. Cysts: Sebaceous cysts can develop in the genital area and may present as painless lumps. They can sometimes become inflamed or infected, leading to discomfort.
6. Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV): If the bumps are painful, blister-like, or associated with flu-like symptoms, it could indicate a herpes infection. This requires prompt medical evaluation and management.
7. Other Infections: Conditions such as scabies or pubic lice can also cause irritation and bumps in the genital area. These are typically associated with itching and discomfort.
Given that you mentioned the bumps have increased in number and size, and that one has become painful, it is advisable to seek medical attention. A healthcare provider can perform a physical examination, possibly conduct tests, and provide a definitive diagnosis. It’s important not to self-diagnose or treat these conditions without professional guidance, especially since some sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can present similarly.
In terms of hygiene, while regular cleaning is important, excessive scrubbing or irritation can lead to inflammation or infection. It’s best to use mild soap and water and avoid harsh chemicals or scrubs in the genital area.
Lastly, since you are sexually active, it’s crucial to discuss any concerns about STIs with your partner and consider regular screenings. Open communication about sexual health is key in maintaining both your health and that of your partner.
In summary, while some bumps around the penis may be harmless, the increase in number and size, along with the development of pain, warrants a professional evaluation to rule out any serious conditions. Please make an appointment with a healthcare provider for a thorough assessment and appropriate management.
