Penile vasculature and foreskin
Doctor, I apologize for adding to my previous question.
My last question was about the penis appearing thicker near the glans when semi-erect, while the base (near the pubic hair) appears thinner.
I want to clarify that I am not referring to the entire penis having a tapered shape, but rather that it resembles two inverted cones, with the upper part being thicker and the lower part being thinner.
There seems to be a noticeable difference in thickness in the middle, but it is not very pronounced.
However, when I slightly push the foreskin towards the glans, this difference disappears, and it is not present when fully erect.
Your response indicated that the foreskin can create a visual discrepancy, but if there is a noticeable difference in texture when touched, is that normal? (The foreskin is thinner on the side closer to the glans, but the thicker area is also on that side.)

Understanding penile anatomy can be a complex topic, especially when it comes to concerns about girth, sensation, and the overall appearance of the penis. The anatomy of the penis consists of several components, including the shaft, glans (or head), and the surrounding skin, including the foreskin in uncircumcised individuals.
In your description, you mention that the penis appears to have a thicker area near the glans and a thinner area closer to the base, which can create a visual and tactile sensation of a "step" or difference in girth. This is not uncommon and can be attributed to several anatomical and physiological factors.
1. Anatomical Structure: The penis is made up of erectile tissue, which includes the corpora cavernosa and the corpus spongiosum. The corpora cavernosa are two cylindrical structures that run along the length of the penis and are responsible for erections. The corpus spongiosum surrounds the urethra and extends to form the glans. The distribution of these tissues can create variations in girth, especially when the penis is partially erect.
2. Foreskin and Sensation: The foreskin (or prepuce) can also contribute to the perception of girth. When the foreskin is pulled back, it may expose the glans more fully, which can create a visual effect of increased girth at the base of the glans. Additionally, the foreskin is typically thinner at the edge near the glans, which can create a contrast in texture and sensation.
3. Normal Variations: It is important to understand that there is a wide range of normal when it comes to penile anatomy. Variations in size, shape, and girth are common and can be influenced by genetics, hormonal levels, and individual development. The perception of a "step" or difference in girth is not necessarily indicative of any medical issue.
4. Psychological Factors: Concerns about penile size and appearance can also be influenced by psychological factors. Many individuals may have heightened sensitivity to their body image, which can lead to increased awareness of perceived irregularities.
5. When to Seek Help: If there are accompanying symptoms such as pain, discomfort, or changes in sensation that are concerning, it may be beneficial to consult a healthcare provider. They can perform a physical examination and provide reassurance or treatment if necessary.
In summary, the differences in girth that you are experiencing, particularly the thicker area near the glans and the thinner area closer to the base, are likely normal anatomical variations. The foreskin's position can also affect how these differences are perceived. If you have further concerns or if there are changes in sensation or function, it is advisable to seek medical advice for a thorough evaluation.
