Red bumps on the glans?
I have only performed oral sex on my one and only partner (who also has no sexual experience), and aside from that, there has been no other sexual activity.
It has been about 9 days, and recently while showering, I noticed some bumps when I was erect.
They are not painful or itchy, and they feel slightly raised to the touch.
I would like to know if this is concerning, whether it will resolve on its own, or if I need to see a doctor.

When it comes to red bumps on the glans (the head of the penis), it’s understandable to feel concerned, especially if you notice changes in your body. Based on your description, the bumps are not painful or itchy, which is a positive sign. However, there are several potential causes for these bumps, and it’s important to consider them carefully.
One common cause of red bumps on the glans is a condition known as pearly penile papules. These are small, harmless, dome-shaped bumps that typically appear around the corona of the glans. They are a normal anatomical variation and are not associated with any disease or infection. If the bumps you are experiencing resemble these, they are likely benign and do not require treatment.
Another possibility is that the bumps could be related to a mild irritation or an allergic reaction, perhaps from soaps, lotions, or other products used during bathing. If this is the case, avoiding irritants and maintaining good hygiene can help the bumps resolve on their own.
However, it’s also important to consider sexually transmitted infections (STIs), especially if there has been any exposure, even if it was limited. Some STIs can present with bumps or lesions on the genital area. For example, genital warts caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) can appear as small, flesh-colored or red bumps. If there’s any chance that you might have been exposed to an STI, it’s crucial to get tested.
Given that you have only had one sexual partner and that partner also had no prior sexual experience, the likelihood of an STI may be lower, but it is not impossible. It’s always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to sexual health.
In terms of what to do next, if the bumps do not resolve on their own within a few weeks, or if you notice any changes such as pain, itching, or discharge, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional. A doctor can perform a physical examination and may recommend tests to rule out any infections or other conditions.
In summary, while the presence of red bumps on the glans can be concerning, many causes are benign and self-limiting. However, if there are any doubts or if the condition persists, seeking medical advice is the best course of action. Regular check-ups and open communication with your healthcare provider about any changes in your body are essential for maintaining good sexual health.
