Foreskin Issues After Using Viagra: Allergies or Side Effects? - Urology

Issues with the foreskin after using erectile dysfunction medications?

Hello Doctor: Recently, I used the medication Piligy during sexual intercourse, and throughout the process, I used Durex condoms.
After finishing, I noticed that my penis was slowly shrinking back to its normal size, but the foreskin was in an unnatural swollen state, although there was no pain.
This condition lasted for about half a day to a day before returning to normal.
Could this be due to an allergy or a side effect? Additionally, I would like to know if taking Piligy about once a week could have any negative effects on my body.
Lastly, after taking Piligy and engaging in sexual activity, I noticed that my urine was yellow when I went to the bathroom.
Could this cause any harm to my body? Thank you for your response!

Hello: It is advisable to discuss this type of medication with the prescribing physician or to check the medication leaflet for any such effects.
As for the swelling lasting half a day, this is likely not normal; please refrain from using it for the time being.
Wishing you good health.

When it comes to the use of Viagra (sildenafil) and its potential effects on the foreskin, it’s important to consider several factors, including the possibility of allergic reactions, side effects, and the implications of infrequent use of the medication.
Firstly, the swelling of the foreskin you experienced after using Viagra could potentially be attributed to a few different factors. While Viagra is primarily known for its effects on erectile function, it can also cause changes in blood flow and vascular responses in the genital area. This increased blood flow may lead to temporary swelling or engorgement of tissues, including the foreskin. The fact that you did not experience pain is a positive sign, as it may indicate that the swelling is not due to an acute injury or severe allergic reaction.

However, it is also possible that the swelling could be a mild allergic reaction to either the Viagra itself or the materials in the condom (such as latex or lubricants). If you have a history of allergies, particularly to medications or latex, this could be a consideration. If the swelling persists or is accompanied by other symptoms such as itching, redness, or pain, it would be advisable to consult a healthcare professional for further evaluation.

Regarding the frequency of Viagra use, taking it once a week is generally considered safe for most individuals, provided there are no underlying health conditions that contraindicate its use. However, it is essential to follow the prescribing physician's recommendations and to be aware of any potential side effects. Common side effects of Viagra include headaches, flushing, nasal congestion, and digestive issues. If you notice any unusual or severe side effects, it is crucial to seek medical advice.

As for the yellow urine you mentioned after using Viagra, this is not typically a direct side effect of the medication. However, changes in urine color can be influenced by various factors, including hydration levels, diet, and the presence of certain medications. Viagra can cause mild dehydration in some individuals, which may lead to more concentrated urine and a darker color. It is essential to stay well-hydrated, especially when using medications that can affect blood flow and vascular function.

In summary, the swelling of the foreskin after using Viagra may be related to increased blood flow or a mild allergic reaction. If the swelling resolves within a day and is not accompanied by pain or other concerning symptoms, it may not be a cause for alarm. However, if you have ongoing concerns or if the symptoms worsen, consulting a healthcare provider is recommended. Using Viagra once a week is generally safe, but monitoring for side effects is essential. Lastly, changes in urine color can be influenced by various factors, and staying hydrated is important for overall health. If you have further questions or experience any unusual symptoms, do not hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional for personalized advice.
