There is a lump on the penis?
Hello doctor, I would like to ask about a lump on the left side of my penis.
It doesn't hurt when I squeeze it, and I noticed it about ten years ago, back in middle school.
When the penis is erect and the foreskin is pushed back, I'm not sure if it's a wart or a tumor.
It's located on a blood vessel and is approximately 2 centimeters in size.
Will it have any impact?

When it comes to a lump on the penis, especially one that has been present for a long time without causing pain or discomfort, it is essential to approach the situation with a clear understanding of potential causes and concerns. Given your description of the lump being present for about ten years, not causing pain, and being located on the left side of the penis, there are several possibilities to consider.
One common cause of a lump in this area could be a sebaceous cyst. These cysts are benign and occur when the sebaceous glands become blocked, leading to the accumulation of sebum. They are typically painless and can vary in size. Another possibility is a penile fibroma, which is a benign tumor made up of fibrous tissue. These are also usually painless and can be present for many years without causing any issues.
Another consideration is the possibility of a penile wart, which is caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Warts can vary in appearance and may be raised or flat. However, since you mentioned that the lump has been present for a decade without change, it is less likely to be a wart, as these typically change over time.
In some cases, lumps can also be related to vascular issues, such as a varicocele or a thrombosed vein, which can present as a lump but are usually associated with discomfort or swelling. However, since you report no pain, this is less likely.
While the lump you describe does not seem to be causing any immediate issues, it is still important to monitor it for any changes in size, shape, or color. If you notice any new symptoms, such as pain, bleeding, or changes in urination, it would be advisable to seek medical attention.
Regarding your concern about whether this lump could be something serious, such as a tumor, it is essential to understand that most lumps in this area are benign. However, it is always best to err on the side of caution. A healthcare provider can perform a physical examination and may recommend further tests, such as an ultrasound, to determine the nature of the lump.
In conclusion, while the lump you have described is likely benign, it is crucial to have it evaluated by a healthcare professional, especially since it has been present for a long time. They can provide a definitive diagnosis and discuss any necessary treatment options if needed. Regular check-ups and being aware of any changes in your body are vital components of maintaining good health.
