Testicular issues
Hello, doctor! Today I suddenly experienced testicular pain and noticed that the consistency of my left testicle is different from my right (the left one feels very soft, almost like jelly).
Additionally, I feel pain when walking (it's painful enough to make me break out in a cold sweat).
I had a similar issue last month and underwent an X-ray, but the doctor said there was no problem! After a while, the pain subsided, but now it's more painful than before.
Should I seek medical attention again?

More Info
Testicular pain can be a concerning symptom, and it's essential to approach it with caution. Based on your description, it seems that you are experiencing significant discomfort in your left testicle, which feels unusually soft compared to the right. Additionally, the pain is severe enough to cause sweating when walking, indicating that it is likely affecting your quality of life.
First and foremost, it is crucial to understand that testicular pain can arise from various causes, some of which may require immediate medical attention. Common causes of testicular pain include:
1. Epididymitis: This is an inflammation of the epididymis, often caused by infections, including sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Symptoms typically include swelling, redness, and pain in the affected testicle.
2. Testicular torsion: This is a medical emergency where the spermatic cord becomes twisted, cutting off blood supply to the testicle. Symptoms include sudden, severe pain, swelling, and sometimes nausea. This condition requires immediate surgical intervention to save the testicle.
3. Hernia: An inguinal hernia can cause pain in the testicular area, especially when straining or lifting heavy objects.
4. Varicocele: This is an enlargement of the veins within the scrotum, which can lead to a dull ache or discomfort.
5. Trauma or injury: Any recent trauma to the area can lead to pain and swelling.
6. Tumors: Although less common, testicular tumors can present with pain or discomfort.
Given that you have experienced this pain before and it has now intensified, it is advisable to seek medical attention again. Even if previous imaging (like X-rays) did not reveal any issues, the nature of testicular pain can change, and further evaluation may be necessary. A physical examination by a healthcare professional, along with possibly an ultrasound of the scrotum, can help determine the underlying cause of your symptoms.
In your case, the fact that the left testicle feels significantly softer than the right is particularly concerning. This could indicate a potential issue that needs to be addressed. The severity of your pain, especially when it leads to sweating, suggests that this is not a trivial matter and should not be ignored.
When you visit a healthcare provider, be prepared to discuss your symptoms in detail, including:
- The duration and intensity of the pain.
- Any associated symptoms (like swelling, redness, or fever).
- Any recent activities or injuries that may have contributed to the pain.
- Your medical history, including any previous episodes of testicular pain.
In summary, given the sudden onset of severe pain, the difference in texture between your testicles, and the history of similar issues, it is highly recommended that you seek medical attention promptly. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential to prevent potential complications, especially in cases like testicular torsion or infections that may require immediate intervention. Your health and well-being are paramount, so do not hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional.
