Forcefully sitting down may cause residual urine?
I have been straining to urinate for a year, and I also push hard to completely empty my bladder.
Now it seems there is a problem; I noticed that after urinating, when I exert myself, a few drops of urine are involuntarily released.
After researching online, I found out that straining to urinate can harm the body.
I tried to improve my technique, and at first, urination was fine, but after finishing, I still feel like there is some urine left, and I can't seem to relax the bladder muscles to fully empty it.
I can only push hard like before to finish using the restroom.
I would like to ask the doctor, after relaxing and urinating normally, if I still feel residual urine, is it okay to push hard to empty it completely, or should I just gently shake to help?

Urination should be smooth and effortless; do not strain.
It is not unusual for someone your age to experience these symptoms, so it is advisable to consult a urologist for a thorough examination.

When it comes to the issue of forcing urination, especially in the context of residual urine, it's essential to understand the potential risks and underlying mechanisms involved. Forcing urination can lead to various complications, particularly if it becomes a habitual practice.
Firstly, the act of straining to urinate can place undue pressure on the bladder and pelvic floor muscles. Over time, this can lead to a weakening of these muscles, potentially exacerbating issues like urinary retention or incontinence. The bladder is a muscular organ that should ideally contract and relax in a coordinated manner to facilitate normal urination. When you force urination, you may disrupt this natural process, leading to further complications.
In your case, it seems that you have developed a pattern of using abdominal pressure to empty your bladder completely. While this may provide temporary relief, it is not a sustainable or healthy long-term solution. The sensation of residual urine after urination can be frustrating and may indicate an underlying issue, such as bladder dysfunction or a possible obstruction in the urinary tract.
If you find that you are unable to fully empty your bladder without straining, it is crucial to consult with a healthcare professional, preferably a urologist. They can perform a thorough evaluation, including tests like a post-void residual urine measurement, to assess how much urine remains in your bladder after you think you've finished urinating. This information can help determine if there is an underlying condition that needs to be addressed.
Regarding your question about whether it's safe to force urination when feeling residual urine, the answer is generally no. Instead of straining, it is advisable to try to relax and allow your body to naturally expel any remaining urine. If you feel that you still have residual urine, gentle techniques like leaning forward slightly or taking a few deep breaths may help facilitate the process without the need for straining.
Additionally, consider the importance of pelvic floor exercises, which can strengthen the muscles involved in urination and improve bladder control. Kegel exercises, for example, can help enhance the strength of the pelvic floor muscles, potentially reducing the need to strain during urination.
In summary, while it may be tempting to force urination to achieve a feeling of complete emptying, this practice can lead to more significant issues over time. It is essential to seek medical advice to address the underlying causes of your symptoms and to explore healthier strategies for managing your urinary health. Remember, your bladder health is crucial, and taking proactive steps can help prevent further complications.
