Masturbation: Concerns About Premature Ejaculation and Sensitivity - Urology

Masturbation issues

During masturbation, sometimes I finish in one or two minutes, while other times it takes seven or eight minutes.
I use my hand at a frequency of about two strokes per second; I’m not sure if that’s too slow.
My current masturbation frequency is about once every day or two days.
Am I really experiencing issues with congenital premature ejaculation? Also, when I move the condom up and down on my penis, I feel my perineum pulsing.
Is this a sign of being overly sensitive?

Niming, 10~19 year old female. Ask Date: 2022/11/21

Hello: Masturbation and sexual intercourse are different; you cannot use DIY time to determine if there is premature ejaculation.
Your situation is quite common, and each ejaculation is different, so there is no need to worry.
Wishing you good health.

Masturbation is a normal and healthy sexual activity that many people engage in. However, concerns about premature ejaculation (PE) and sensitivity can arise, leading to questions about sexual health and performance. Let's break down your concerns regarding the frequency of masturbation, the duration of ejaculation, and the sensations you're experiencing.

Firstly, it's important to understand that the duration of time it takes to ejaculate during masturbation can vary significantly from person to person and even from session to session for the same individual. Factors such as arousal level, physical stimulation, mental state, and even fatigue can all influence how quickly one reaches orgasm. The fact that you sometimes ejaculate within one to two minutes and other times can last longer (seven to eight minutes) is not uncommon and does not necessarily indicate a problem.
Premature ejaculation is typically defined as ejaculation that occurs within one minute of penetration during sexual intercourse, which is not directly applicable to masturbation. If you find that you are consistently ejaculating much quicker than you would like during partnered sexual activity, that might be a concern worth discussing with a healthcare provider. However, the variability you describe during masturbation alone does not automatically suggest a diagnosis of PE.

Regarding your technique, using a glove and the frequency of one to two thrusts per second is a personal choice and can vary based on individual comfort and preference. There is no "correct" speed for masturbation; what matters most is that it feels pleasurable and comfortable for you. If you feel that your technique is causing discomfort or anxiety, you might consider experimenting with different speeds or methods to see what feels best.

The sensation of your perineum (the area between the anus and the scrotum) "jumping" or feeling particularly sensitive during masturbation can be a normal response. The perineum is rich in nerve endings and can be quite sensitive to stimulation. If this sensation is pleasurable and not accompanied by pain or discomfort, it is likely just a sign of heightened sensitivity. However, if you experience pain, discomfort, or any unusual symptoms, it would be wise to consult a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying issues.

In terms of frequency, masturbating once every day or every other day is generally considered normal and healthy. It is important to listen to your body and engage in sexual activities that feel right for you. If you ever feel that your masturbation habits are interfering with your daily life, responsibilities, or relationships, it might be helpful to speak with a mental health professional or a sexual health expert.

Lastly, if you have ongoing concerns about sensitivity, premature ejaculation, or any other sexual health issues, consider seeking advice from a healthcare provider who specializes in sexual health. They can provide personalized guidance and support based on your specific situation.

In summary, the variability in ejaculation time, the technique you use, and the sensations you experience during masturbation are all part of the spectrum of normal sexual behavior. As long as you are comfortable and not experiencing pain or distress, these experiences are typically not a cause for concern. However, if you have any doubts or if these issues persist, don't hesitate to reach out to a healthcare professional for further evaluation and support.
